So that video game store that had previously claimed to have Yoshi's Island demo cart has a Toy Story (genesis) prototype. This I actually saw with my eyes, behind the case. It's a label-free cart, with only a orange sticker on it that says Toy Story prototype (next to a splatterhouse prototype or whatever). I didn't ask for a price, but from past experience I'd bet it's at least 30-60 dollars. Does this sound worth it? Do want?
If you're willing to dump, every prototype is worth acquiring. Maybe coordinate yourself with drx or something...
Ship it over to drx, LocalH, or hook up with someone over on Lost Levels and it'll be dumped for you. Can't go wrong.
I LOVE Toy Story on the Genesis. It was a pretty good looking Megadrive game for it's time. I'd shell out a few bucks for it.
Worth it, that game's great. Weird how the best FPS graphics on the genesis are in a Toy Story game...
I remember that game fondly. 'Specially the level in Sid's House where you get to use Buzz's Karate Chop Action.
I may see this weekend how much they want for it. I loved that game; the music was super rad in it and it was pretty fun. I still have my cartridge in my shelf of genesis games, so I may bring in my [LED modded 8-hour battery life] Sega Nomad to test it and see if it's worth buying.
I know the store Bibin is talking about (I got a Virtua Racing Genesis NIB for $10 from there back in early 2009) and can get to it via public transit; sadly I don't have a dumper. If someone knows of one we can easily get, let us know! But next time I do go, I'll be sure to find out what else they may have picked up since. (And for the record, I do have a final copy of Toy Story =P )
We should try and coordinate, maybe go at the same time. They didn't really take me seriously about the prototypes last time, so maybe having someone else with similar interests will help.
Nah, either they forgot or were bullshitting. People don't ask much about protos here. Anyone else in the NYC area want to go to the store maybe this weekend? Also, a Play N' Trade near me has piles of "HIGH DEFINITION GRAPHICS" early genesis units and heaps of old game for mere dollars; if I go to this store the PLay N' Trade would be part of the run as well.
Damnit! If I lived near there I would have already went in there and bought all the consoles. =( Seriously, go for the prototype. You never know what's in it.
I seriously wish I was near a store that had protos. go get it. If you don't like it, price-gouge it to someone else. :P
I wish I lived near a place that sells old games, my only place is Salvation Army, and that's only with luck do they have anything.
New Play N Trades are opening all the time, so maybe someone will open one in your area before too long.
Okay guys, I'm going to the following places tomorrow in NYC, if any body wishes to meet me there: Play N' Trade: ~3:30-4:00 PM 137 E 13th St New York, NY 10003 (212) 674-0200 Link: google maps link VideoGamesNewYork: ~4:00-4:30 PM 202 East 6th Street New York, NY 10003 (212) 539-1039 If anyone wants to meet me there that'd be great.
This place sounds like bull. First a Yoshi's Island cart that they suddenly act like they never had was there, now a Toy Story cart that says "Toy Story prototype" on the front? I don't think I've ever seen a proto that just says "this is a prototype" clearly like that. I'll be surprised if this turns out to be anything at all. Maybe they're pretend they don't have it or something again :p
