The review mostly makes notice of how unoriginal the game is and praises it only for having “good graphics”. Rather interesting
So a really good friend of mine dumped this neat THQ Sonic Advance art assets disk which includes original PSDs of Sonic Advance art, as well as screenshots among other things. There's also stuff from other Sega GBA releases from around the same time as well. An archive quality rip is downloadable from The Internet Archive.
Category:Sega/THQ Game Boy Advance Art Assets files Not a massive amount to show on the Sonic side but you do get... ...thrilling debug text... ...that breaks. Some of the EPS/PSD files will need a real copy of Photoshop - I think we have the art already, but the files are being odd so I haven't the tools to confirm.
I have a Creative Cloud subscription at the mo so have access to Photoshop etc. - no time to look now, but I'll try to over this weekend to confirm if there's anything completely new to us. From the brief images shown in the original tweet, I find it interesting that Sonic's proportions were altered between the lineart and the final artwork - his head was originally larger, more in line with Heroes-era Sonic, but was scaled back down so he better resembled his Adventure proportions.
Excellent - I've put the Sega-related things in Category:Sega/THQ Game Boy Advance Art Assets files and Category:Artwork from Sega/THQ Game Boy Advance Art Assets. Again, not much to see, but every little helps. Also: I guess it's not surprising that The Pinball of the Dead is converted from 3D models, but I hadn't expected them to map out the whole table.
Does anyone remember that magazine article that made rude descriptions of Sonic Heroes characters when it first came out? For example, "We want to fuck Rouge the Bat but Cream the Rabbit is our favorite" or something like that. I have not been able to find the images again, but if anyone knows where it came from, let me know because i can't sleep at night without thinking about chaotix penis size.
Wasn't that Sonic Cult? They described Omega as a bad ass trash can if I recall. That and there was a kinda thing with Cream there from what I recall.
You could do this for all the Game Gear games in Sonic Adventure DX for GameCube. Although in Mega Collection Plus they changed it and only that GG titles that had 2P link up could do it.
Was doing some Sonic Heroes-related wiki work, and it clocked that hey, this game was translated a few times. I'm curious - do the French, German, Spanish, Italian, whatever translations keep the line "Look at all those Eggman's Robots"? I'm assuming both the Japanese script and voiceover are less stupid, but typically the European translations are based on the English one. And yeah obviously we want super detailed comparisons between everything on the wiki, but that's a much larger undertaking.
I can chime in for the French version: "There's so many Eggman robots in the area!" Now putting aside the awkward translation (hot single robots in your area ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)), I can't tell if it's based on the English version (Look at all those Eggman robots!) or the Japanese one (うわ!エッグマンのメカがいっぱい!-> Uwa! There's a bunch of Eggman's mechs!) ...but if I had to take a guess I'd say the english localisation was used as a base for all FIGS translations, since that's how they used to do it back then. Also you guys would actually be interested in comparisons between the original JP versions and the various translations for Sonic games? Because I'd be ecstatic to give it a shot, I just figured no one but me gave two shits about stuff like that.
Sonic Heroes/Comparisons This is as far as we've got with Sonic Heroes, a.k.a. "not far". But yes flood the page with things. You might find inspiration on Sega Retro.
