How the hell do you get the small details down pat but muck up the majority of the game?!
it's funny because watching LPs of 06, you really do get the feeling that Silver's stages are the ones with the most polish behind them...
Silver and his telekinesis were most definitely the first thing Sonic Team worked on based on developer interviews, so it makes sense that they’re the most polished.
Chao in Space was selected to be shown at the LA Shorts International Film Festival!
Not sure if anyone here noticed/mentioned this yet, but the name "Amy Rose" appears on the Zillow web page in the Sonic Movie:
New video, thought it was pretty funny.
I guess "Max Eggroom incident" was expecting too much.
They remembered Sonic 3 exists. Yay. Now release it you cowards.
Not sure if this ever came up, but wonder if this old video inspired the first boss of Sonic Mania
IIRC Iizuka asked for the Death Egg Robot to be the 1st boss but I don't remember where I heard that from. But hey maybe he saw the video lol
It's mentioned in this video, at 4:16
Thank you for that, knew I wasn't crazy there lol
So apparently, there's word online about SEGA justifying the 2011 Sonic the Hedgehog CD Taxman release by saying the CD in the title now means Chrono Distortion.
I'm not against it, I think Sonic the Hedgehog Chrono Distortion sounds a good name, but all I can find on it are people echoing that it was hand waved by SEGA into that. Does anyone know of any sources showing that SEGA are calling it Sonic the Hedgehog Chrono Distortion?
An official Sega branded Takashi Iizuka toy figure exists

All jokes and memes aside, this video is great as a review. I pretty much agree with him on all points, Sonic 3 is a culmination of everything Sonic 1 and 2 did.
Great music selection, if I say so myself. (Funny how it's not the first time he's used Sonic music in ads.)
We're migrating Sonic magazine articles sub-pages to Sega Retro to avoid duplicating work. With the powers combined we can generate statistics:
Mega Drive game ratings
The standings, right now:
92 Sonic the Hedgehog
92 Sonic the Hedgehog 3
91 Sonic the Hedgehog 2
85 Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
84 Sonic & Knuckles
81 Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball
80 Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island
spoilers: tons of magazines are missing (you should add them) and there are probably big error ranges. As I've probably said before, 92 does not mean "8 percentage points from perfection", it's just a vague number in relation to other vague numbers giving you a vague idea of quality.
In fact the only real takeaway here is that Sonic & Knuckles... isn't as well liked as its predecessors, despite the lock-on technology. There was a thought floating around years ago that people were getting sick of 2D Sonic by the end of 1994, which is why you didn't see one on the Saturn - this might confirm that theory. It'll be curious to see if gap remains as more reviews are added.
