The Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Megathread

Man, I sure like where this game is going.

I want a confirmed release date already. I'm pumped up and I'm not ashamed to admit that.

 

I'll probably buy it either way. As I've said more-or-less always, it looks fun. I enjoyed playing it at SoS, although it wasn't the absolutely amazing game that "Sonic 4" should've been. Dramatic physics changes would definitely be welcome, though.

 

Okay, so you just said "Some people are told about God and believe in him, others don't but would if they saw proof of him existence". Now let's translate this to sonic 4.

"Some people are told about the changes and believe Sega, others don't but would if they saw proof of the changes' existence."

Well, we got proof with the example of the mine cart level.

And plus, it's not other people telling us these things would happen, like it would be in a religion. In this case, it would be the God himself, telling us that he is real, and then us not believing him.

Sega, the people who are creating this material and providing this material, are the ones telling us that these things are changing. Not other people who don't know about it, not some people who claim to have contact with them, it's the "God" himself, saying to us "I exist", and us going, "hmmm... I don't think so..."

And I hope this doesn't turn into some religious argument XD

Edit: And chimpo, I'm not saying people shouldn't bitch. People can bitch all they want. I just want them to bitch about something different for a change. It would be boring if everyone just said "Man, I sure like where this game is going", and it's been boring only hearing physics complaints. So I would like if we could bitch about something else for a while.

I definitely see where you're going though, Glem. But as it stands, the physics are an issue resting in the back of our minds and will be, so they'll be brought up until Sega puts the minds at ease by saying "No more shit physics" and supplying proof. Once that's happened, probably the only time when shit physics are brought up will be in the form of "Hey, remember when those physics were shit?"

Although I'm not really seeing the issue here, because it's not like I personally was ever planning on stopping and attempt to walk up the side of a 90 degree wall, I can at least say that the physics are a problem for some people.

 

I'm just tired of the "this certainly isn't sonic 4 as we imagined it"... It's as bad as Ken saying it IS sonic 4 as we imagined it. It's neither. It is for some people, and it isn't for others. I find it insulting when people say this isn't the sonic 4 we ever wanted and it's nothing close, because they're trying to speak for all of us, when they can't. And when they do that, they're just as bad as the PR at Sega who spout the same crap they do in reverse.

Well of course people don't attempt to walk up a wall in a Sonic game, but remember the videos of those players that weren't very good? If someone makes a mistake on the game, they'll probably run into walking up a wall like that one guy did and he just homing-attacked up it. If the physics worked like they were supposed to, he would have slid down and had to go up the ramp the right way instead of breaking the game.

Not to mention if the game worked the right way (level design and all) he wouldn't have had such a hard time with it to begin with. (That slope doesn't need to have a curved top. >.>)

 

Listen pal, it's none of your business what people say about Sonic 4! NONE!

If you know you're the exception to the "we" then what difference does it make? Get over yourself, because nobody gives a shit if you are!

I was using his post as an example. His comment bothered me for the same reason Ken's comments have bothered many people. Of course no one's single opinion really matters. This thread was made to discuss sonic 4. If we don't respond to people's opinions, we'd have nothing to talk about. So excuse me for doing so.

It's the fact that he was trying to speak for all of us that bothered me.

 

There's discussion.

"While I'm not thrill that the game isn't a 100% accurate recreation of the original games, I'm still looking forward for this product. It seems like an entertaining piece of software my good man!"

And then there's this.

Not one person speaks for all of us. You can chose to argue against his points or ignore him. If you do want to tango keep that in mind that he's mainly speaking for himself. There's absolutely no reason to start a shit fest over obvious personal opinions.

 

You're complaining about me complaining about people complaining, chimpo. So I guess you also fall into the latter example.

If you'd rather have every post in this thread be "I like this game despite its flaws" or "I don't like this game because of this flaws" and you expect no arguing, I think that's pretty naive.

 

What I expect is for people to stop acting like brats and actually have a decent conversation with each other rather than this horse shit "NO I'm RIGHT! YOU'RE WRONG!" back and forth we see all the time. This goes for both sides of the argument.

Honestly I just think I'm going to try the trial version before buying it. If I really enjoy myself, will give it a fair chance. I don't believe it's going to be horrendous or anything, but they could have done ALOT better.

 

Mmm... okay. So anyone have any ideas for a good way to replace casino street act 2? I think it could work if there were small intervals in the stage where you'd have to use slot machines to collect some rings, and you'd have a ring barrier like in the special stages that you'd have to pass. Or maybe a point barrier or something. Either that or a much larger pinball machine.

 

Is this game even going to get a demo? I know it has a lot of attention behind it, but it's kind of a small game. And even then, will all the episodes have demos? I know that usually a game will have a demo if it has a lot of attention around it, but will SEGA even bother?

I can see Colors getting a demo, but Sonic 4? I don't know.

 

I know I'm not fucking touching it ever if they don't release a demo. But even then you have to be careful because the demo for unleashed was wicked awesome but then as soon as you played the full version you were bombarded with shitty game.
