See that's the reason I said "or so it says in the book." The writing is so that it feels like the author embellishes the story quite a bit. While Console Wars is based on a plentiful amount of first hand interviews, I wouldn't bet my life entirely on this for accuracy. For all we know, Nilsen just winged the naming story during an interview rather than reading from the original text he wrote. This is only a hunch though and we'll probably have to ask him ourselves just to confirm. Console Wars does an amazing job at conveying the general story, but reeks of creative license in several respects.
Yeah... if the book itself says that it's making up certain stuff, I don't think we can rely on the details until those things are verified via personal interviews. I'd even be wary of the "Tails Monotail" thing, for this reason.
