Apparently Black Doom is the villain!

That explains why Shadow's going through his past then. I guess this is basically the flashback stages of ShTH (2005) but as a whole game.

 

Why didn't they just call it "Sonic AND Shadow Generations" ? That rolls off the tongue way better.

 

To be fair, why wouldn't they? It'll cover the PS4 and X-Box One owners who've not been able to upgrade yet, and the PS5 and Series X are pretty much backwards compatible with them. It's just business sense for coverage.

You gotta love how that trailer is framed exactly like the initial reveal of Forces; everyone expected Shadow to show up in that, then its Classic Sonic. Here it's the reverse.

 

The Shadow stuff is soulless nostalgia pandering. And it wouldn't be if instead of Shadow nostalgia pandering they added the entirety of Sonic Colors as a bonus. It's not nostalgia pandering if they're pandering to my nostalgia.

So it occurs to me that SnapCube made a fandub where Black Doom kept reversing time when Shadow did an oops.

Now Shadow Generations has Black Doom doing something to make Shadow visit the past...

I’ve wanted Generations to be re-released for a long time, and I enjoyed Shadow The Hedgehog, as janky as that game was.

Day one purchase for me. I haven’t purchased a Sonic game day one since… Mania, I think? Before that it was… maybe Shadow the Hedgehog!

 

I examined every single frame. At no point was Shadow holding a firearm of any sort.

I'm very upset.

Well I think it's odd that in a game of time travel Shadow's foe is Black Doom instead of Mephiles.

But then again, Shadow shouldn't remember who Mephiles is, so it could be jarring. And giving 06 so much screen time is certainly jarring.

 

Is this going to replace the Generations that's been on Steam? Will previous owners get some kind of discount?
