As title, found this auction in Italy https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sonic-The-Hedgehog-2-Jamma-PCB-Bootleg-Working-Arcade-Mega-Drive/283433056029?hash=item41fded371d:g:OaYAAOSwGMFcnOjH As seller says, it's a bootleg board. Now, just for be sure, when i read bootleg mean it's not original. But, it's really fake or?
Those are typically called "bodge wires", which usually fix a bug or pcb production error without having to remake the board. They aren't uncommon on arcade units. Though I don't believe that has anything to do with the authenticity here. Bootleg, in this case, means the EPROMs of the original Sonic 2 System16 board have been reproduced to work on this non-System16 PCB unit. If true, this is a very interesting looking System16 clone which has been heavily modified.
So i can totally ignore it and mark as fake right? EDIT: if someone is interested on buy it, i can help with italian shippings
It wouldnt be system 16, itd be megatech or megaplay, no? There wasnt any system 16 ports of sonic 2 iirc.
Megaplay and Megatech both ran games off cartridges though. This has the ROM chips built into the board (could be the removable ones marked F23).
That isnt uncommon with bootlegs. I have a few system 16 bootlegs that combined the daughter and main boards, effectively removing the "ROM" input.
