in a weirdly meta way I feel like Sonic's steadfast and determined attitude is kinda the perfect metaphor for the entire franchise. He's been through so many ups and downs but against all odds he just keeps on going lol

So uhhh just for a bit of fun I’m going to throw out three predictions on S.A.G.E.’s voice actor in the dub, those being Emily Neves, Amber Hood or Erica Lindbeck.
I like the big jump into the air at the end I’d like to hope that you can pull this off normally while running up cliffs and that this isn’t a scripted sequence that locks air control. This is a very odd message unless they’ve made some significant overhaul to the combat system.
Besides the fact that "meme era" and "meta era" are both worthless terms with no actual definition, the script is written in English first here, and it was usually only the English localization messing with things. But FYI, the Adventure era was just as egregious as the Pontac/Graff scripts if not worse, no matter what clickbait youtubers tell you. I think that's from the Asura fight, so it takes a speed booster to get there, but you definitely have control over Sonic's movement since you need to land on its head to attack it. I think they've slowed it down a bit, though. Funny you mention that though, in the shot of Sonic jumping between two walls Lost World-style, someone pointed out that that shot (and only that shot) contains "footage not final" text at the bottom left, probably because Sonic rotates the wrong direction before landing on the opposite side. It's the grind rail thing all over again.
I mean... Interviews have made clear that combat is pretty (maybe not all of it/entirely optional, but at least mostly so) optional in this game. "Enemies get in your way? Just run around and past them if you don't wanna deal with them!". The game design seems pretty compartmentalized so that you can focus on more of what you like in the game and still beat it.
So maybe we really will see a second island in the Gamescom trailer... that thing looks kinda like the Egg Hammer from Sonic Rush.
