They say Tails was secretly helping Sonic in the first episode, and is only now helping him on the front lines. There is no way in hell Tails would sit out on an adventure to stop Eggman. Lazy writing to say the least, although I have no idea what else they could have written either. "Tails was in a irreversible coma, I'm sorry Sonic, you face Eggman alone today."
Winter Park is looking great and compared to Ice Cap Zone it's superior with far more interesting stuff by the looks of things. It's not particularly challenging in the ideas department but this zone is the first I've seen that seems to be up to some standard with the classics.
Not really. Why does it bother you? Little Planet is appearing over 'the neighbouring continent' and that's also where Eggman is hatching his latest scheme.
Well, there's a hell of a lot of empty space with no levels on the right, so I would assume that, since that is a lake, once you have completed past a certain point, Little Planet appears above it. There's also a lot of rocky areas near that lake, so that could probably be Never Lake in the first place. Honestly, I think the reason they didn't mention Never Lake was sloppy research, not out of any particular malice.
The wording makes it seem like they are referring to Little Planet as the neighboring content, but I guess I just read it wrong. Overnight shifts can you up like that.
Well this is the World Map from Episode I It's pretty obvious what has been changed in Episode II, but you can have a go at guessing too.
I always got the impression that Never Lake was in Green Hill Zone. If you look at the animated sequences in SCD, you'll notice the rock formations resemble the background mountains and in the good ending you see the spinning sun flowers. Perhaps there was going to be another GHZ rehash in E2 but due to backlash, it was changed.
Well it's a floating plannet, it doesn't need to appear above Never Lake again, Eggman could drag it anywhere he wants too, it's plausible and even better that way since you aren't as limited to the lore.
It's even more obvious that it'd be you who first talked about it. =P That said, it's at least shown they've actually done something regarding this, no?
Except I already mentioned it before :P The new map music is a definite improvement over the original, but I still wish they didn't try to make make it sound all retro. The rest of the game isn't, so why this?
OK, fine, but you didn't go as far as linking in the original. =P As for why the map music is like it is - I imagine they wanted a common theme between the two, so had to make it sound similar while at the same time fix the obvious problem that had been pointed out already.
The website doesn't have new map music -- you posted the WII version, which sounds slightly different. The music on the website is identical to the one from the first episode's 360 and PS3 counterparts.
Nope. They're different. Compare the one you've posted to the new one: Percussion and bass
Sorry, I thought I fixed it. Either way, the instrumentation does not feature Episode I's infamous cat synths and the bass is a lot better too. I guess that's some progress in the right direction, yeah?
I tried to rip the audio from the site since it's allegedly from Episode II. It turns out Sega has found a new way to prevent any leaks for this episode. Their solution? Give the track an audio delay that plays it twice, but at different times! :specialed: Here's an MP3 in case anyone wants it: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/55412112/sonic4_2012-03-01-05-07-33.mp3
They sound exactly the same to me >.<. Except the website version sounds lower quality, of course. Still, I'll take your guys' word for it.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/23845709/sound%2012.mp3 Ripped using a SWF decompiler. That is all I'm going to provide, but enjoy the track, even though it's in mono.
They used a Genesis soundfont for the base! That instrument in the lead still sounds annoying... but seeing as this is a song that Ep. I and Ep. II share, I don't think we can use it as a guage for the rest of the game's soundtrack.
