    I'm all but certain this isn't the first time Sega's done a promo with actual hedgehogs. Didn't they do something with St Tiggywinkles once?

    Gathering information on Sega World Sydney and collecting Sonic merchandise.
    I don't remember anything abaout Tiggywinkle's, but In 2005, Sonic Team donated 1,500 Euros to an unknown hedgehog sanctuary in Germany. Yuji Naka himself went there for a visit. Full story with pics here.
    My favorite picture from that event is Naka-san's reaction to seeing a real hedgehog.
