I'm hoping that they can take what they learn here and use it to make a great 3D game.

Edit: IF they actually are making a Genesis style game.

I hope that there is no voice acting in this game, whatever it turns out to be.

Anyways, I think that we should think about several things:

1.) Exactly who will be the cast this time around? If I'm right, it'll likely be Sonic, Robotnik, Tails, Knuckle, and some character that likely nobody will care about that'll dissapear into oblivion after the end of the game.

2.) What locals will Sonic and Co. end up going through? When it comes to classic Sonic games, a tropical and/or Green Hill-like zone will obviously be the first place we'll go through. Other likely locals will be the usual Casino, Water, and Mechanical City-like zones. Oh, and there'll likely be a desert zone, because Sandopolis Zone wasn't enough back then. :v:

3.) Abilities: or what will Sonic be able to do this time? The obvious thing would be the clasiic moves(spin attack, spin jump, insta-shield) as well as one or two of the modern moves (homing attack, light-speed dash). Also, knowing Sonic Team's fetish for giving Sonic brand new moves along with his normal moves every game, I suggest we look at the trailer for any signs of anything new our spiky friend can now do.

4.) Oh soundtrack, what will they do to you? Shall they go Genesis on this thing's HD ass, or get Crush 40 and other people to do music like they did for the newer games? If they do go Genesis sounds for it, 5 bucks says that other people will try to do Genesis versions of every frackin' tune on the planet, mark my words.

5.) Robotnik. I shall call him Robotnik 'till the day I die, and I am sure that a good question to ask is if they'll put that name somewhere in the game. Oh, and bosses, that's important too. How will Robotnik fight Sonic this time? Egg-o-Mattic? Boss Mechs? The Egg Cerberus? *shot*

Sorry, my bad. But still, a good question is: How will Robotnik factor into the plot(or whatever is to be called a plot in this game).

6.) Badniks. This is the one thing I wish to know more than anything else. Will Badniks finally make their glorious, shiney HD-licious return? Or will Egg Pawns be used? What if something else entirely is used for badniks? Oh the places this question could go....

7.) Online. If we know one thing, it's that people liked the multi-player of Sonic 3&K (and the inevitable rubbing it in their faces that you won). What IF they use that and place eet online? Basically, just you against THE WHOLE WORLD. Just add the usual microphone option thingy, and only god knows how insane it would go.

Also think of a leaderboard for it(already talked about this, but yeah). Not only race times, but rankings on various things, like fastest game completion time, best racers, most rings collected, most enemies killed, ya get the idea. How do ya think they would tackle this, if they did?

8.) The style of the game, how it looks...how to begin with this? There are so many possible ways to go here: Sonic CD-like sprites, Cell Shading(ala-Wing Waker), the modern realistic style we normally see, a rip-off Paper Mario, a blocky Lego-like style, the list goes on....

Now then, based on what they show(and whatever else they show soon), what art direction are they gonna take this? and about the style, will it be a cheerful style(sunshine and Green Hill) or a dark and gritty style (Think of what Scrap Brain Zone would look like if Time Burton made it...)? This could be an interesting topic to disscuss for this new game.

9.) The shilouette. That god frackin' shilouette. It obviously seems to be the Sonic 1 title screen, but I do believe that the "character" that's in that thing is likely important to the game. Just to get ya thinking, remember the interview, with talking about Bark the frackin' Polar Bear for god's sake? Well, maybe that's a hint to what it could be...or maybe I'm just speculating here. But still, My best guess now is one of the "Scrappies" being brought back for a chance to finally be the spotlight again. Obvious canidates are likely Nack, Bark and Mighty(because hey, why not?). So, what do ya think is the big hidden thingy they'll reveal from that shilouette when they do?

So yeah, a lot of things to think, and hopefully disscuss, about. But one last thing:

In the trailer, look at the last thing that blue ball does before that frackin' shilouette appears: It seems like going through a corkscrew.

So...Corkscrews may make an appearance again? :v:

Oh boy! I am so late to post! Lucky me!

I am so excited about this new game! So much that I drew up the 2010 ring on flash! Anyway, this trailer had made my entire day yesterday awesome, knowing that Sega hasn't completely ditched the classic fans. I'm also happy that the Tim Burton-ish concept art was fake, because the art just didn't look very appealing to me. I just hope to god Sega doesn't screw us over somehow.

BTW, here's the ring I mentioned. It was rushed a bit, so it doesn't look all that great, but I still like it. I'm probably going to work on it a little more though.

I actually would really like to see online (And offline, too) races, that could really be fun.

Also, quite random, I know, but I really think this game is pretty much guarantied to have 3D graphics and no drawn material, which isn't a bad thing, it could look spectacular in 3D. But just saying, because the trailer had a lot of 3D effects such as Sonic's ball and the rings. If it were to be a hand-drawn game they probably would have made the rings and Sonic look drawn and such.

Online definitely needs to happen. Racing against other players would be incredibly, Sonic 3's multiplayer was really fun, imagine the same gameplay in HD! No longer needing the split screen for online since SEGA has more to work with, that would be awesome.

This probably won't happen, but I would love to see Chrome Gadget Zone's music reappear in multiplayer if it happens.

EDIT: 50 pages sweet jesus :psyduck:

Yea, it's a fan game site. Coincidentally sharing the same name as the project. I still found it really weird.

You know, "pikachu" is derived in part from the Japanese word for mouse.

Only he's an electric mouse, not a needly mouse.

    Just some food for thought.

No, I'm just still going LOL PIKACHU IN A SOMBRERO DATS FUNNY.

I think sombreros are just inherently funny. More games need sombreros.

The Japanese word for mouse is 'nezumi'. Chu is just the sound a mouse makes (like squeak in English).

Also, hari (needle) + nezumi (mouse) = harinezumi (hedgehog). This is where the needlemouse joke is coming from.

How can we deny that Sonic isn't behind that silhouette at the end? He's obviously in the scenes before it:

Blue blur + the words "speed returns" + retro sounds that Sonic makes --> Sonic. The fact that the blue blur seems to come around and "hit" into the title window suggests that he moves into it from bouncing around the screen in the previous shot. Get what I mean?

Also, compare this trailer to the trailer they released for Sonic Adventure 2. Heck, compare it to the Sonic Heroes trailer. Both of these trailers show a great deal of gameplay, different characters, and some storyline. The Sonic Unleashed trailer takes an interesting turn: it shows absolutely no gameplay, but reveals a tiny bit of the story. The Project Needlemouse trailer goes even farther and reveals one character, Sonic, and no gameplay. Over the last few major Sonic releases, I think they've learned not to over promise and under deliver as far as the trailers go.

This is not a trailer though.

Deny that he isn't? So, you think it's not him? =P
