Jen and I recently went to Scarborough for the summer and saw these particular plushies in two different claw machines... Not sure if this is something new or not. I couldn't find these particular ones anywhere on Google nor could I find it on sites like Sonic Gear. From what Jen told me, she's certain PMS International is the one manufacturing them. Apparently she saw the name on the tag after failing to win a Dr. Robotnik plush =P I would love to find out where I can get these (most especially the Dr. Robotnik one as it's not something you see often). Here's hoping either sonicmerchandise.com or Summer of Sonic will have them. If not, if anyone can point in the right direction as to where these plushies can bought, that would be awesome Going slightly off topic. For those of you interested, I also have some pictures of two different SEGA Sonic amusement games which I took when Jen and I were in Scarborough. I apologise for the poor quality as all the pictures including the one above was taken using my mobile. http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g116/Ore...g/Image0013.jpg http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g116/Ore...g/Image0014.jpg http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g116/Ore...g/Image0016.jpg http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g116/Ore...g/Image0018.jpg http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g116/Ore...g/Image0019.jpg http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g116/Ore...g/Image0021.jpg
I got the three (Sonic, Tails and Knuckles classic style ones) that were in game last year or whenever it was...these seem different slightly, addition of Robotnik/Eggman and Amy is kool.
I have the three from Game as well; you're right, these ones definitely a lot different, it's much more apparent when you see these ones for real rather than in a photo. The material and colours look quite different and they're a bit smaller than the ones from Game. I've never seen that Amy before either, the only new classic Amy I've seen is this one, which I managed to get when I was in America last year: http://www.animepavilion.com/images/Plush/GE7053.jpg The Robotnik is unlike anything I've seen before, unless I've been missing something (I seriously wish I'd won the bloody thing, I got SO close too).
Is the younger generation seriously calling him "Classic Eggman" now? :/ In all seriousness though. Those are pretty damn sweet. I want the classic Amy just because that has to be rare.
Ironically, the old design with all the cartoon sillyness and clothing, including the warlus motives, the name "Eggman" fits better. And the newer one with a more "human" design and more "angry eyes" (well ignoring the western-made designs) and the whole Maria/Gerald thing, "Robotnik" feels the better one. I say it's not bad calling him Classic Eggman, even for a western-point of view, there is already enough confusion and lack of knowledge about the names already, in more casual circles.
I finally got the Robotnik plush!! Managed to grab one at Summer of Sonic: I was right, they're made by PMS International. Here's the tag, which shows the item number if anyone wants to try and track one down (the tag says it's not for sale but I'm sure it wouldn't be impossible to buy one):
Just got back from a weekend at Flamingo Land in Yorkshire and these things are all over the place. Fortunately I'm handy at crane games, so there was only Tails that escaped my grasp on the tenner I spent. Unfortunately I didn't get a photo of Knuckles since I gave him to my girlfriends little brother, but hopefully these Hi-Res scans of the tags will make up for that Now back to lurking...
I live minutes from a sea front (Southend on Sea) but none of the many crane machines have them here yet. I want that Robotnik one badly, and the others look nice too. Will keep checking to see if they get them.
These look great, I saw Sonic, Tails and Knuckles in a claw machine a few weeks ago but they just wouldn't budge. Hopefully one of the more generous machine operators nearby will get them soon
Looks fucking awesome, especially Sonic's pose on the tag. I don't remember seeing it before; it's definitely new artwork, that's for sure. Here's to hoping they stock the UFO catchers at my local Gameworks with these. (Arcade chain owned by Sega)
Lol my parents were at Alton Towers this week and found machines full of these plushies and tried to get me a Robotnik to no avail. But I just found one buy it now on Ebay. Sod it, bought. For ages I've wanted a Robotnik to cuddle hahaha.
