Oh my gosh. I saw this link on the Monday links on the main page and I think I actually seriously almost cried. No, seriously. I am actually a little angry he just gave up like that. But I totally get it. He was just watching over the new construction, because he was so busy with other things he just decided he would let someone else do it. I'm guessing because it got hacked, he just didn't care anymore. And I totally get that. But of course, I still do care. SoaH City may possibly be the first Sonic fansite I visited nearly every day when I was younger. And its music library was like heaven to me. I never thought I'd find such a library of Sonic music downloads for free. By 2010 or 2011 I had noticed its dying down in activity and that sorta bummed me out. But I was still happy that the site existed. So when it went under construction I was happy because it sounded like they were going to finally get back to being really active again. Unfortunately, that went the entire opposite direction, and the site ended up closing down. That is honestly extremely sad. Over... what has it been... 13 years? And it's gone. Good grief. Well, SoaH City, you were a good site. And let's be honest. It really sucks and is really sad you're now officially gone.
Not my banner, not my problem. Just C/P'd from the new owner of SoaH that posted over at the SSMB version of this topic.
Yeah, it does looks better on their layout. ours not soo much :v: Anyways, the new owner's name is "Stritix". and if all goes well we should be seeing SoaH back in a few weeks!
Stritix is a cool dude. I only ever went to SoaH for music downloads like most others, but may stop by after the relaunch to see how it is.
I was only there for the music, when it became a bland Wordpress wasteland I lost interest. Should they be interested in getting that back, they should restore everything they have, and update it with recent soundtracks. Otherwise... *Shrug*
Stritix is indeed cool, but he already owns a Sonic forum called "Sonic Redux", so I guess that'll be closing down. :v: I never heard of SoaH until now, seeing how I didn't have the internet when I was a kid but reading everyone's' stories is making me want to check it out if and when he revives the site. (I'm assuming it won't be like it was in the past but meh.)
Wow. This is a good day. The NC is back and SoaH is coming back from the grave. 2013 is beginning to shape up to be a good year.
Is it bad that I never used the place? It's sad that it got hacked, but I never found a use for it. But if it's coming back up, I guess that's all well and good.
SoaH City was one of the first Sonic fan-sites I discovered along with Secrets of Sonic Team, so I look forward to it returning. Plus, it was always incredibly useful for me downloading OSTs across the years.
For what it's worth, he hasn't mentioned anything to us staff members, on the contrary he's quite focused on furthering Redux. I'd say he'll run both in conjunction for a while to see how it goes.
Well, we know that SoaH isn't REALLY dead, but if you still think the opposite, Neon Chaos said this on his personal site:
Yeah we know man, glad Neon Chaos is acknowledging it though. The site that shall not be named on the other hand... Time to change the topic title!
