Dead end - Sonic 3 prototype in Germany? NO WAY? NO WAY!

That's like saying Sonic 1 was a beta of Megamix. :P

 

Not quite... The released Sonic 3 is more like a beta of the "real" Sonic 3—that is, Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Technically speaking, Sonic 3 is "Sonic 3 Part 1" and Sonic & Knuckles is "Sonic 3 Part 2."

 

I wasn't saying that SEGA was likely to do such a thing, only that it's not unheard of them to put prototype ROMs on compilations. Wouldn't it be awesome to see both S2 protos along with anything else they have to show up like that one of these days?

Unless this cart were to be one of the earlier versions with the Sonic 2 sprite and that purple Carnival Night Zone, I don't see this being worth shelling out much cash for. I can foresee it being practically identical to the final pretty much like what we got today. And I don't think anyone wants to see more money being shelled out just so we can witness the placing of moniters in areas they weren't in in the final rom revisions :P

 

I disagree. It might be a Sonic 3A prototype, with the Michael Jackson composed music. We can only speculate either way though. No way of knowing without actually getting the beta. Wouldn't you agree it'd be worth finding out for sure though?

 

What I wish would be that people would actually test the games and tell us if they're any different before selling them. I swear they look keep that info private since they don't wanna risk a deal..
But of course, if anyone wants to take the risk and it's worth it to them, who am I to complain.

Shit, if you could get a prototype of THIS, the only games we wouldn't be able to chart the development of through multiple builds in the Sonic series are the two DC games, and everything after Heroes.

I wouldn't even bother with this, I just have a bad feeling. Unless it has MJ's music... hey.. I wonder if anyone's ever contacted MJ himself about his Sonic 3 music.

 

Anything earlier than our Sonic 3C prototypes are worth going after IMO.

 

don't get me wrong, I'd love a great Sonic 3A proto as much as the next member, BUT... he spent all this money on all these amazing protos for us and the others and... I'd just hate to have him spend more money on a beta unless he's sure it has like MJ's music in it or something.

 

Playable Knuckles in a Sonic 3A proto could be quite interesting as well.

Plus there could always be some cut levels we've never heard of (like Wood Zone in the Sonic 2 protos) or any known level that might have been redone (think Casino Night and its two known variations), which seems plausible after watching that MTV video.

 

do we know what's all in this beta?

 

To be honest though, I am beginning to think Sonic 2 is exceptional for interesting stuff... but I guess we'll see.
