Whenever I try to open ESE's level editor, it brings up this weird error message:

    Type 13: mismatch.

    What is wrong?

    Sounds like you're trying to open something which isn't a Sonic 1, 2, 2K, 3, 3K or K ROM.

    Type 13: mismatch.

I'm assuming that that is a Run-Time error from the VB Framework. That always happens when for example, a String variable is trying to be put into a Long Variable without the proper conversions.

I don't think that the wrong kind of rom would spring this error. In fact, I've never seen it in ESE. Try a different version of ESE, perhaps?

No, I've tried both versions of ESE. I made a picture to show you the exact error:

Figure what out, the problem with ESE or the image?

And amazingly, it still doesn't work.

Okay, here, we'll try this, just tell me exactly what you do when the error happens, and we'll see if we can solve it this way.

Ok, I took a Sonic 2 Rom. I loaded it up in ESE, and I tried to go to level editor. It brought up this EXACT message

    Run-time error '13':

    Type mismatch.

Well, I can't think of what would cause that to happen. I will try to recreate the error and find a solution, possibly having a solution later tonight.

    I'll get back to you.

I think that's the error you get when you load an incompatible ROM. Have you used any editors apart from ESE on the ROM?

Yeah, I've tried SonED and Chaos, and the same thing happens. It's just a normal Sonic 2 rom.

Ok, cancel that. I finally got it fixed. I don't know how, but this thing is finally working.
