On my butt in front of the computer. Where else?
I'm working on working up the willpower to work on learning how to make my own Sonic fangames. Not quite there yet.
If someone could give us a little step-by-step of how to work that Xtaf thingamajig, that'd be neato. I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to be doing with this thing.

  2. My favorite Modern Sonic gameplay ever, since we're (Sega?) not counting Sonic Adventure as modern.

Classic, could use improvement in controls, not gonna happen sadly. But still very solid.

    I'm hyped. I can't wait for it.

Guys, when this game comes out, I only have one suggestion you guys just have to try out at least once:

I want you to take the truck chase music that'll be in here, and replace it with this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9klljdJ03Yw&feature=fvst

Then, just go through the truck chase to the end of the thing for Modern Sonic's act while it's playing. Lemme know how you guys feel when you're done, okay?

bonus points if one of ya records it. :v:

Oh wow, they did a nice job fixing the spiral bridge in C.GHZ. Not only does it not glitch up now when you try to bracktrack it, but you get back the whole way around. Awesome.

Seconded. I was just about to go to bed (I have work tomorrow) and now everyone is suddenly talking about a second demo. Me want as I missed the first demo.

I do not usually pray and swear, but my God that demo was fucking terrible. Both Classic and Modern suck equally. A disorientating, imprecise mess of a game.

Also Omochao can go climb a wall of you know what.

OK, for me I had to put the demo in this folder:

    Data Partition > Content > 0000000000000000 > 415487DB > 00080000

If that doesn't work for you try downloading a demo and then transfer it to your USB. Stick the Sonic Generations demo in there.

    Also, its case sensitive.

Pretty boastful statement there. Care giving any reason to that?

I'm just sorry you won't be able to enjoy this game. :P

For some reason people are asking me to back up my opinion, so here:

Their fingers do not waggle on the title screen.

    1. Download the demo file (thanks to whoever uploaded it, btw, you're the man!)
    2. Get an empty USB stick and prepare/format it in your Xbox
    3. Optional: copy a small demo from your Xbox to that USB stick. That'll create some folders on the stick, but you can later do that manually, too.
    4. Get Party Buffalo. This program will let you access the Xbox data on the USB stick. (I like it better than the other app mentioned before.)
    5. Plug the USB stick into your PC and open it with Party Buffalo.
    6. In the file system, go to Content\0000000000000000\ (or create those folders if you have skipped step 3).
    7. Create a subfolder called "12345678" (normally the Title ID, but no idea what the correct one is for this demo... this value should work though).
    8. Open that subfolder and create another subfolder called "00080000" (this indicates that it's a demo).
    9. Your current path should now be: Content\0000000000000000\12345678\00080000\
    10. Add the downloaded demo file (DE30E958476750841A4437CF398E25EEAFCEAAC653) to this folder.
    11. Wait until it's fully written to the stick (Party Buffalo seems to use write buffering, so even if it appears to be done already, data might still be transfered).
    12. Safely remove the USB stick from your PC and plug it into the Xbox 360.
    13. Go to the memory manager and copy the demo from the stick to your HDD... or play it directly from the stick, if you prefer (or if you don't have an HDD).

    Hope that helps.

Not "back up." The word is "expand on." Like, exactly what bothered you? Apart from the non-waggling fingers, that is?

(My personal title screen nitpick is Modern Sonic's mouth, which looks a bit weird in that render...)

Much obliged, good sir. Now to see if this works!

Well, I've talked a bit about the demo, but it's time for me to share my opinions.

*Classic? Good, but it could be better. Not sure what SEGA was thinking by making springs automated, they're not maintaining the momentum-based physics that made Classic Sonic games so, well, classic. The enemy AI could be a bit better as well, pretty sure the enemies were a tad more threatening than they are made to be now. This isn't that apparant in Green Hill Zone, but in later levels I've watched it seems like enemies are simply stepping stones for sonic now. Very little, if any, evident threat of doom. This isn't how Classic Sonic is supposed to be at all, the enemies are supposed to be threatening and I can name a number of badnicks that still give me a hard time in sonics 1, 2, 3. Even the Egg Robos were a pain in the neck, but once again, they seem to be mere stepping stones in this game. I do hope I'm wrong, oh so much.

*Modern? It's good, but it's definitely on rails. You're given the illusion of freedom when you have 3d movement, but really, you can only go forward or backward and theres very little point in going backward. Yeah, this is how Modern Sonic has worked this generation, but I truly miss the 3d platforming that made the dreamcast/gamecube sonic games oh-so-good. I think Shadow the Hedgehog was one of the last sonic games that had true 3d platforming before they became very linear. Sonic 06 was semi-linear, but Unleashed/Colors/Generations are the very definition of linear. I hope Generations is the last game that does this, I miss my freedom. In terms of actual controls? Good, QTE is gone, too much focus on boosting IMO. I think I'm not going to use the boost button in this game. I just won't push X at all since you don't use X to airdash in this like you did in unleashed. Reason? Boost is basically easy mode, you can run into the enemies to kill them, you get through faster, but it also screws up the music so you can barely hear it and that's just not as exciting. I'll be hesitant to use it in this game.

P.S.: Not even 'classic' sonic is safe from Omochao
P.S.S: Omochao appears to have the VA of Phil/Lil from Rugrats, I'd recognize her voice anywhere.
P.S.S.S: I said a while ago I'm not buying this game until the collector's edition comes stateside. After this demo, I'm not sure if I'm keeping that promise.

Megadash: Record in 720/1080p or I hate you forever :v:

Nora: see, THIS is good critisizm.

I personally feel the Classic gameplay isn't a 1:1 creation but is pretty fun nonetheless. I enjoy it greatly and had a grin on my face when popping badniks. Also, the Classic enemies aren't really jumping targets in ALL levels, they just LOOK that way. Believe me.

As for Modern, I enjoyed Unleashed until reacently where I lost my touch and Sonic became butter. I enjoy Colors a lot. I therefore enjoy this blend of the two with a faster deminishing boost gauge and speed-dependant music. Level design padt GHZ looks stelar, Chemical Plant not really as much (it's the second level and is a factory with smoke and fire everywhere, come on :P). I honestly will fully enjoy this game, so... Yeah. I seenyour points and understand where you're comming from, but I don't believe the game is THAT linear past Chemical Plant. It has its branching path goodness; it's just not, sadly, open-world.

The way this forum is, if you back up a negative opinion then you are lynch mobbed for 'arguing' or some nonsense. Just do not worry about it.

And yes, Modern Sonic looks like he has Down's Syndrome.

I don't think every-which-way open-world gameplay suits Sonic at all, but then I vastly prefer most of Galaxy 2's level design to any other 3D Mario game's as well for a similar reason... that I prefer my platforming in A-to-B obstacle-course format. So maybe I'm just old-fashioned like that.

From the look of it, Green Hill is still too Unleashed by my standards to strike a balance, but can be forgiven on the grounds of it being literally the first stage of the game. To me, Sky Sanctuary looks to be pretty much my ideal balance of platforming, speed, and linearity in the Unleashed style, but that's just from footage—it could feel different hands-on, for all I know.

1- Well I can see why you don't state WHY you disagree with everyone else, then. Oh well.

2- I wouldn't say he looks like he has down syndrome as much as... He looks like he's wearing flesh colored lipstick and is camera shy about his teeth.

I'm not sure why they just didn't use these renders for the title screen.

Gets the same point across, and look much better overall.
