After watching those E3 playthroughs a lot can be said. But if this hasn't been noticed earlier I'd like to point out how Desert Ruins 2 is quite similar to the special stages in Chaotix.
I'm worried about how slippery this game looks. I mean, they claim that they've refined the controls for these environments but they haven't really, I mean look at Windy Hill Act 1, you go right or left on that Mario Galaxy tube area you turn immediately. Granted, it's better than not turning much at all at full speed, but this is too quick. There's a happy medium, they have not reached it.
Sonic games have this weird tradition at E3: Every video that hits the web was played by some one who suck at Sonic games. I have this feeling that the controls are a bit too sensitive. But once again, having that thing in mind, I can't really say. But well, looks nice and seems kind of fun.
More new gameplay http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiPs1hlgMcY Looks like Peel Out charging has returned. Also, looking at the other videos above, Antons seems to punish Home Attack spammers as they'll perform a kamikaze attack if you do, but later in that same video, Sonic seemed to take out an Anton in one blow with the same attack, and then immediately afterwards, another Anton goes into it's punish mode, so maybe you have to home attack certain badniks at specific parts of the body? Idk, it's anyone's guess. Also, Sonic seems he can now bounce on the ground now, akin to the Brounce Bracelet in SA2.
I'm still waiting for someone to post footage of someone doing the laser wisp ability properly, because so far I feel like the idea that you have to use the touchscreen is gonna mess it up quite abit.
It's from Gametrailers, meaning it has a chance of being taken down from Youtube. If that happens, here: http://www.gametrailers.com/videos/ew0ke7/e3-2013--blurry-furry-gameplay--cam-
The player successfully uses the laser at about 2:50 in this video.
Nope, never. Still stating this, its not that crazy to think they took some inspirations from Xtreme.
Watch that GameTrailers video Sonic Warrior TJ posted. The Sega rep (Ruby?) explicitly name-drops Xtreme.
Okay, X-Treme conspiracy theorists can go home now. Big interview over at the Sonic Stadium. Spoiler TSS @ E3 tl;dr Colours director is on board again. Development started during Generations, so it's been about 2.5 years. Development started on the PC (not for the PC) before the platform was decided. Tomoya Ohtani is heading music! :D The Deadly Six are "Zeti" The new Wisp is called Asteroird. A departure from Unleashed/Colours/Generations in order to bring back platformimg. GamePad only for singleplayer. The dev team isn't really aware of X-Treme, so there's no connection. 60fps confirmed without a shadow of a doubt
That was a really neat interview. The most interesting part to me is that Lost World was originally being made for PC.
It was being made on PC, not for PC. Like, before they knew exactly which platform it would be going to. I think Sonic Team does a lot of their development on PCs first.
