Just got announced on Nintendo Direct. Wii U and 3DS exclusive. There was a teaser picture. More info before E3. Would be nice if someone screencapped it.
A game in which Sonic and Tails fly the Tornado around a planet with chunks of it missing, presumably restoring it as they go. I feel like I'm getting a bit of deja vu...
The "worldwide partnership about the sonic franchise" bit was somewhat interesting. I wonder if Sonic is staying exclusive for some time. At least sonic in Smash 4 is basically confirmed now.
Damn TimmiT you're fast. I was watching the CVG liveblog and came straight here to post this and the thread was already up. You posted this thirty seconds after the announcement. You're fast. Faster than me. As for this announcement the game looks promising. Reminds me of Colours. I'm curious about the "worldwide partnership with Sega regarding the Sonic franchise". It sounds like Sonic may now be exclusive to the Wii U? If so Sega may be making a mistake there. Wii U sales are catastrophic. I have a feeling a cash-strapped Sega may have accepted a moneyhat here. This is positive news in that we're getting a new Sonic game but also negative news if the next Xbox and PS4 are now not getting a true next generation Sonic game. Something I was really looking forward to. The question is: does this mean Sonic is now a long-term Nintendo exclusive? The language Nintendo used indicates so. Anyone? EDIT: CVG wrote this in their liveblog: Sonic games published by Nintendo going forward? Guys. That means Sonic just became a Nintendo exclusive franchise (at least for the foreseeable future and until Sega or Nintendo indicates otherwise). That's the real news here. Sonic exclusive to Nintendo platforms moving forward. It looks like a next generation Sonic game for the next Xbox/PS4 is not happening anytime soon. A poor move by Sega IMO.
I remember a rumor of this floating around with some details mentioning Tails, Knuckles, and Amy being playable for this a few months back. I wonder if that's true.
Ohhhhh motherfuck. Guess I gotta get a Wii U now. Looks interesting though, the grid look suggests that it might be customizable in some way
I wonder just how hard the begging on Nintendo's part was to get this exclusive? =P Planet looks quite interesting. Sort of a zoney-type split.
See? NOW it's okay to post topics :v: I'm curious as to how that Sonic games published by Nintendo is being interpreted. Does it mean the whole brand or is this a case where Nintendo is publishing games being exclusively developed for them? Moreover, if Sonic is going exclusive to Nintendo, this brings up some very interesting questions, like what of Sonic 4-2, which has never seen release on a Nintendo console (potentially a Wii U prospect now) or how will this affect Sonic projects on mobile platforms, like Stealth-Tax's Sonic 1? I guess Sega (or Nintendo) should be dropping a press release soon enough.
No, I remember it specifically saying "Lost World." Either way, I hope we'll get more characters to play as. Or have the chao gardens return
Teaser pic looks interesting, but there's nothing to make of it without more information. Though I doubt that'll stop some of you with making fan theories :v: Makes E3 a bit more interesting, I suppose.
Reminds me of Minecraft (the hexagons which the world is split into), Unleashed (obviously) and Advance 3 (I think it's safe to say Sonic will be tasked with putting these places back together). And *scrolls up to picture* looking at the picture, something about it seems very "Little Planet", maybe the way it's in the sky (as opposed to space) and the planet does look relatively small, even if Sonic and Tails are a long way away from it. I hope that my dad will allow me to upgrade to Wii U for this game's release, as if New Super Mario Bros. U and All Stars Racing Transformed wasn't enough to make me want one.
+ - Why can't we move the partnership talk to a different thread entirely? I, for one, would like to talk about the topic set forth in the title. Looking at all the different areas on that map. Grassland, desert, snow, ocean, forest, mountain, cloud and volcano areas? It's like every recent Mario platformer!
We're keeping this one to talk of the game... or screenshot, right now... that will eventually become a megathread, like usual. If you want to talk about the Sega/Nintendo partnership, direct it over here. Any more posts like that in here will straight up be trashed.
