The shine on the cheek is used to help define the 3dimensional feeling Sonic is supposed to have compared to Knuckles. Try to see if you can mess around with the shading and match the Knuckles sprite.

I figured everyone was fine with what I had since no one was bothering to comment. I can try to merge them, gimme a sec.

Before the criticisms come, my sprite is short and fatter than everyone elses with spikier spikes, less bags under the eyes and you can now see the buckle on his trainers again

 

Ignore the quills, the main edits were the eyes and the muzzle.

 

I gave a small try.

 

Alright, here are the two:

Mine on the right Cinossu's on the left. How can we merge these two so it balances out?

The eyes look too flat. You need to match the shading so it matches the Knuckles sprite.

Where did you come from.

It's not a bad attempt but you're editing from an outdated sprite. Definitely have the style down.

 

the combination of the two above is on the left. The combination of mine with Cinossu's is on the right

He looks way too much in the Sonic Adventure era now. I don't think this is gonna work.

I like your fusion though, that shows potential if mine gets knocked off it's pedestal.

I think so, for the most part. A few things were bugging me, so I decided to take a stab it the sprite you posted.



I moved the lowest left pixel of the top-most quill to the right 1 pixel to give a more slanted/curved illusion. It looks great to me when looked at a decent size and with bi-linear interpolation filters placed on it.

While I was at it, I adjusted his mussel and his gloves a bit, and added 2 pixels to his arm because I thought it looked a bit too skinny. I also added 1 pixel to the left side of his stomach to make it appear more roundish.

I am still new here, and I apologize if these things have been discussed before, but I honestly don't have the time to read every page you know?

I wouldn't say that it's "better"--the lowest spike is way too short and fat now. This is one of the problems that called for a spike extension in the first place. At the very least, it needs a thinner edge extended by a couple of pixels.

Stop editing this one. We're not going to use it. Stick to OSM and Cinossu's edits.
