I've yet to see a rank higher than B, and I'm mostly getting C and below - it's SA2 in terms of rankage. Having got one E (on the level I will get to in a minute), I also lol'd at it.

I've played up to rescuing Pickle now, and the Werehog levels remind me why I hate fighting games so much and why I never bothered with any God of War style games (Heavenly Sword being an exception just to see if things had changed - they had not). I never thought I'd say this - the Werehog levels are even longer than Shadow's! They're fucking horrible. It's a case in point of why I fucking hate fighters of this style - pressing buttons in slow combos seems to do nothing, so I button bash, which seems to help but makes my hands sore very fast. The first one took me 34 mins (complete with near impossible boss), second took 45 minutes (complete with room full of seemingly infinitely respawning enemies. I had to ask on #retro if I was missing anything.)

I shall have to suffer though the Werehog levels to unlock the rest of the damn game but rest assured I will never play one I do not have to twice.

On the positive side, with the exception of a cheap drop or two the Sonic Apotos level was a very nice one - refreshing to not die of glitches but by actual fuckups, and the controls for Sonic work really well. Just a fucking shame it's padded with buttonmashing Werehog.

The early Werehog levels really aren't as bad the second time around if you level up enough. I died at the last part of Mazuri's night stage (the part with the respawning enemies) around 15 times the first time around because the Werehog's level (and admittedly because I wasn't quite used to the Werehog's controls yet). When I had to go back to get medals to get into Chun-Nan's night stage a little while later, I went back and replayed that stage and found it to be surprisingly easier. You just gotta level the everliving hell out of your strength and life if you want to just breeze through the stage quickly.

I just got an idea for the rumored DLC. Why not make levels (Sonic-only) based on the adventure he was on right before Unleashed?

I never button mash, as I find it makes the whole werehog process A LOT slower.

I normally run into a battle with Dash + Y, to take out one or more enemies, and depending if the enemies are scattered or bunched together I will use a range of combo's

My most common combo when enemies are scattered is to Y Y X X X or Dash + Y onto them again, which kills them quick.

When enemies are bunched together, I'll usually use a combo that launches them into the air (X X X X A or Shield + Y) and pile drive them in the air with B which performs a decent sized radial attack, hitting nearby enemies.

Also, you can use Shield to string combo's into each other really well, as you can cancel NEARLY EVERY combo with shield (to avoid the laggy cool downs after any combo) , and instantly start another one after letting go of shield.

It's a really nice advance tech.

I normally just take out small enemies with any X combo's or even just holding and powering X and releasing it.

Also, if you're aiming for S rank, critical attacking (gives you a lot of points) every enemy is the easiest way to reach it, and shield canceling helps A LOT.
Just perform what ever combo, and keep an eye on the enemies life. Then hit shield just before their life depletes. The lower the enemies life is, the longer or the more time you have to perform the QTE in the critical strike.

Also, I find that maxing Combat and Strength initially will benefit the most.

I'm finding the werehogs levels a breeze now, and not a chore. They've become quite fun ^^

    Hope this helps.

UGH, Sonic Unleashed for 360 was such a pain to find! I had to go to three stores until I found the last copy at customer service. But it was worth it, because it's a blast to play! Sonic's stages are great! I also love the fact that you can attack people in the HUB with the Homing Attack, or punch and slice with the Werehog. I spent almost an hour terrorizing the folk of Spagonia. :D

Personally, I'd say they will leave out that chapter for a full game as a prequel. Everyone agrees the Sonic stages are far superior, and with no Werehog on his adventure before Unleashed, I'd say they would attempt to rectify their mistake and make a prequel, all Sonic / classic characters. Of course, this is just a wish, but hopefully it would come true.

X, X, Y, Y, Y is my favorite Werehog combo, where he spins his arms around like a top. Good for large groups of enemies.

I just got the game yesterday, and I can say, I love it. The wii version is like eating an ice cream that someone already half ate, sneezed on, and dropped on the floor. It doesn't taste bad, but it's nothing like eating a new ice cream. You probably wouldn't want to eat a dirty, sneezed on ice cream.

    =P

Anyways, I'm up to Holoska night, And I have to say, Holoska day is GORGEOUS. I don't know what I love about it so much, but it's great. In the wii version, you hardly even see the ocean view that the 360 gives.

I not only went to 3 stores to get this, but I had to go out of town, stand in a line at gamestop for an hour, and finally got home, popped it in, and played it like there was no end.

Werehog is a lot more fun in this version, because you actually feel like you're doing something. I still don't like the werehog, but ehh... It's worth it just to get to the Sonic gameplay.

    I love this game. <3

Count yourself lucky. Lots of people in Pennsylvania want the game, and because I got it during the after-holiday sales, it was a royal pain to find.

Looks like one of my reporters found out that Unleashed sold 1.2 million in total, across all platforms. (The Wii version takes the lion's share.)

It's from VGChartz, but I don't see NPD raining on anyone's parade, and the data is only through the middle of December. I could easily see 2 million when all is said and done by the end of December.

It's very surprising news, because at the beginning of the month, things weren't looking good at all.

I'm stuck on the side mission in which this guy from Shamar is searching for what is essentially the perfect tea, and thus travels all over the world. I have the Violet, White, and Green teas in that inventory order. I don't remember where I got them though, and I am having difficulty finding the guy again. Where do my three teas come from?

EDIT: Looking back in the topic, I found out that the Green Tea comes from Adabat, but that does not help unless I know where the other two are from.
EDIT: Don't need help anymore. Completed all the tea missions.

I live in PA, both Walmarts within 30 miles of me have it in stock, a ton of them too, I was at one of the Walmarts today, and Unleashed for every system was there.

There wasn't much doubt it'd break over a million. Despite the flack the series gets, it still sells. Whether this is a good thing or not is yet to be decided. In this case, it's a good thing. Wallets speak louder than reviews.

Just how fast are you supposed to press buttons on this sort of game, anyway? I always figure I'm going too slow. And then how long do you wait before attacking again?!

    Grargh, I hate fighters.

You're not playing Contra, and Turbo Button won't save you.

There's a second delay between each button press if you want to do combos. But if all you want to do is press buttons really fast, you're not going to get anywhere. Look at the move list, find combos that work and that you can easily perform and do use it.

What I really liked about the look of the Werehog is when you toggle Unleashed mode. That is what I expect a Sonic-based fighter to be like—a lot of punch with an equal amount of speed. I don't know if I'm the only one who likes fighters when you can beat the hell out of your enemies really fucking fast, but it seems a lot more exhilarating that way—especially with a Sonic-based fighter.

Man, I really want this game. :(

At the beginning of the game when the Werehog had to hit everything many times to kill, I was a bit bored, but once I leveled up his stats: Wow how fun it is to smash everything with one simple punch!
Sonic is more fun in this way though. He always pummels the Eggman Robots with a single super athletic jump. It's always so rewarding to make those machines explode like that.

There are little things about the game that I love, one being when the rating is I believe E, the music is out of tune, I loved that bit cause it wasn't just a animation so I was thinking are they expecting me to be crap so I can hear the music go like this? That and when you dash the sound of level music changing, I liked that effect.

And I do like the werehog though levels are longer than normal Sonic which isn't great but I do like the platforming and fighting.

Oh and I love the music (weird its the music I love in this game) when you are fighting, it feels like music you hear in Casinopolis.
