Here! 3rd version of the HPz music:

But I don't like the drums you used.

For anyone that feels we're suddenly emphasizing HPZ too much, Master Emerald has expressed interest in only doing stuff for HPZ, so I see little harm in letting him do so.

 

I know that this is only an extra but sincerely, HPz is the easier one to be done because most of it are gradients and rocks that is the reason. So if you want I can work in another zone. No problem, I only wanted to help (Am I helping?).

I'm new here, and notice that there are a lot of OGGs being posted, and I noticed earlier in the thread that some people were complaining (or stating, not sure) that Windows Media Player doesn't play OGGs. I remembered finding these codecs on the internet for playing OGGs in WMP.

I want to remember all Contributors that our current focus is on the Title Theme and Emerald Hill Zone Theme, so please consider to do this if you haven't already started other musics.

 

Sr. Vincent, there's a big problem for me. The title screen music is hard to transform in HD. Why? Because I use midis to do the HD version, and the title screen midis are horrible! So my HD result would be very bad. Example:

I keep missing news here: some of us OCers for the past week worked on a get-well "album" of sorts based on Super Metroid for bLiNd, who was diagnosed with colitis. He's home recuperating now, and my contribution was just finished. I also worked on the three "2P" BGM tunes, but only just managed to finish "Casino Night 2P," only to find out you're concentrating on certain tunes for the time being.
So I'll go back and tweak "Opening" and "Aquatic Ruin," and in the meantime, if you like, enjoy:

Jose, that Casino Night 2P sounds great. I love how it nails that '90s style without sounding like a better Genesis sound chip. It doesn't try to reinvent the original song with electric guitars and it doesn't sound overly synth or electro/techno....and the bass is superb, too! Bass is definitely a big part of a lot of Sonic 2's music, and it's good to see it done well here. Man, it's definitely one of the best I've heard for this project so far (even if it's not specifically for this project).

Can't wait to see what's in store with your other two songs!

 

I like everything except for... what is that, an accordion? Whatever the lead is. it sounds way too squeaky and out of place, and it's a bit pitchy. The sax is also kind of out of place—I think there needs to be a more electric-guitar centric deal here, or maybe some saws somewhere. It sounds good, but it has an iffy sound to it that I'm not quite feeling.

Don't get me wrong though, everything else sounds great!

Did I say distortion guitar? No—I said electric guitar.

You hear a lot of electric guitar with songs like this that have a sort of jazzy, bluesy feel to them. I can just imagine a badass solo sort of accompanying the whole song when I hear it! Obviously there's not going to be excessive rearrangement here, but a clean guitar with a bit of sustain on it would sound nice, yes.

Ok, I see what you mean now. Now that you mentioned it, I do hear a bit of electric guitar in there, just not as part as the main melody. I guess I should've specified "distorted" in my original post, as well, so I'll change that now.

IMO, I think the song sounds quite good as it stands, and of all the music here, it comes the closest to being as catchy and enjoyable as the original music. It's also an exceptionally catchy song to begin with, so there might be some bias there. I'm far more experienced at listening to music than making it, so I can't say much more than that. If you think it can be improved, I'm all for hearing a "tweaked" version (loloolollool) and giving my feedback on that, but that's up to him.

As for being an ORIGINALPIXELFAG...it's not so much that I care for the game to be exact, I just trust the strength of the original over some of the silly things that have been proposed along the way.
