sonic 3 and knuckles: water...

Also, what's with the excessive water shields in Sonic and Knuckles? They're so pointless, unless you're Sonic.

I guess it just plays as a normal shield...

 

I've noticed, yea, and I never really liked it. I don't think it was intentional, IMO. The levels probably just turned out that way. Still, there's nothing stopping you from adding water to the levels on your own if you like.

That's actually quite interesting. It's a nice observation.

 

Underwater you can't drown with it but since S&K doesn't have any it is pointless like you said.
...and even when you're Sonic, that bounce-shield is worthless, meh.

 

That's why I hated Sonic and Knuckles.

I can't understand why people even think about them seperately. We know they were one game which got split in half, so why consider Sonic 3 as a separate game at all?

I noticed the overuse of water in Sonic 3 from the time I first played it, I never really thought about it though, the only level that seemed strange with water was Carnival Night.

 

Because it was marketed and sold as such.

 

No, Knuckles pushes a switch, as usual.

 

If it's pure water then it's a total insulator. =P

 

Not that there'd be any large bodies of pure water in a city like that.

 

You never know, there could be a dam near by that opens when you press the button.

My question is, why is there a carnival on an island like that?
