Sonic CD now out for everything except Nintendo consoles

And we all know what that would lead to. + - Dancing.  

Tails pretty much seems like the game's easy mode to me. Also I'm glad there's no Tails Doll. Anyway, my wallet is at the ready, I can't wait to give this game a go.

 

My wallet too, is ready. Unless the game is 1200 MS Points. If it's 1200 I'm hoping in a car and yelling Daytona all day.

 

It would be funny, although I'm guessing Cream would take Amy's place. Either that or Marine. As much as we want to imagine Sonic giving Tails smooches, I don't think SEGA would let Taxman pull a stunt like that.

 

I've 2000 points waiting for this and future generations DLC. My body is ready.

 

This is stupid. We're almost half done with December and SEGA won't spill the beans on the release date.

It's like they're trying to silently kill off this thing.

Next thing you know SEGA will put up a release trailer on YouTube that no one will see and call it a day on the 14th.

 

You don't think they would do a Christmas day release, would they?

That's never stopped Nintendo. And yeah, I don't really think it's likely either, but you never know, they could bill it as a Christmas surprise-type thing.

 

So within the next two weeks, for certain.

*shrugs* I'm not in that huge a rush to replay a game I've already played to death. Although I'm sure as hell gonna support The Taxman when it comes out, I can do it this week or the next, no sweat off my back.

 

I now officially want the game to come out on the 20th (PSN) and 21st (XBLA).

 

I wouldn't blame Sega. This most likely lies at the feet of Microsoft and maybe even Sony; particularly, Microsoft is notorious for a stupid certification process for XBLA games and they rarely publish release dates until the week-of.

Their certification process is both incredibly thorough and incredibly slow. A game submitted for certification will often sit in the cert queue for months, especially during busy times of the year like their Summer Of Arcade promotion or at Christmas. There's no telling how long it will take to get a game approved, so they never publish release dates on that stuff.

Not only does Microsoft fully test the entire game themselves, but they also make sure it adheres to the stringent Xbox Live Arcade publishing guidelines (things like how the game rewards the player for doing well, if the game requires a tutorial, how to display that tutorial, etc.). Braid's Johnathan Blow has been pretty vocal about how shitty Xbox cert can be:

On top of that, even after your game is certified, it's apparently a very competitive field to get a "slot". A slot being any given Wednesday that an Xbox Live Arcade game goes up; there is apparently a somewhat fierce bidding war constantly raging on who gets a slot when. Unless you pay up, it could be even longer until a slot becomes available for your game (in that case, it would come down to Sega, because it would be up to them to put in the money to get a good release slot - but those still aren't decided until a week or two before a game goes live).

On top of all this, if Microsoft demands you make any changes to your game at all, the whole process starts all over again from square one.

I'd like to say that they're going off the PSN release date. (Because PSN Updates on Tuesday, that could potentially be the earliest time the game is available.)

That or its a vandal trying to make us think that the release date is confirmed.

Sony says so. They also are the first source to confirm both soundtracks (Not that we don't already know this buy still) No idea why the game is coming out on a Wednesday in the playstation store though. Isn't that typically a Tuesday thing?

Personally I'm gonna get the PS3 version and the iPhone version. What about you guys?

 

God, that amazes me Microsoft has guidelines like that. The only requirement I've heard they made that makes a lot of sense is the headset support requirement for online games. It's stupid Sony doesn't mandate that as well. Is Sony pretty lenient in general with their PSN titles? Indie developers seem to have less vendetta again Sony in general. Sony's fuckup causing SMB to not get released on their platform was pretty stupid though.

Fuck yeah! Hopefully it'll release on Steam this week too. I don't have a need to have it on any other platform since I don't do smartphone gaming at all.
