Maybe this is something that needs to be played, but that trailer really did nothing for me. The more I see, the less and less interested I get in the title. That spark that makes everything pop is missing.

That, or I'm getting too old for this shit.

Sonic: Lost World is a less exciting title than Sonic Generations and it's hard for me to get super excited for a game I might never own because my interest in the Wii U is low. Sure, there's a 3DS version, but I think there's a good reason why SEGA isn't showing off the 3DS version much. I do think Sonic: Lost World should be better than Sonic Colors at the very least unless the Wii U GamePad mandated controls for wisps ends up ruining the fun for a large portion of the game. I really wish the Wii GamePad was optional and I could just play this game with a Pro Controller, Classic Controller, or a GameCube controller using a nifty adapter.

Nintendo does what Sonic Team don't.

Maybe some hacker can replace sonic's model with mario. After all, it's easier to do on a wii.

Spoiler alert: Nintendo isn't developing the game.

...and Wii U games have not been hacked as of yet. (Wii Mode is hacked, but not Wii U mode.)

At first I was annoyed at how people kept comparing this to Mario Galaxy, but honestly, with every new bit of footage this looks more and more like Galaxy with Sonic thrown in.

The odd structures, the goofy level themes, the major use of the gravity gimmick, inanimate objects with faces. It's friggin' Mario. And that's not terrible, necessarily, Sonic could definitely afford to take some cues from Mario. But this is just blatant, and it's disappointing.

I'm still looking forward to it, but... Ehh.

I guess it's impossible for any Sonic game after Generation to generate the same amount of hype. Generation had too many things going for it: Classic Sonic, remixed levels, remixed music. Nostalgia and fanservice hyped Generations, at least for fans like us. Even if Lost World was a completely different game Generation would still be more "hype". I think it's normal after all: Generation was the big 20th anniversary game, Lost World is just another Sonic game between many others.

That 6 hour video. When does Lost World stuff starts? I'm sorry, I'm not big into homemade cosplay crafted with cardboard and colored pencils or fat people... Or Crush 40.

    Nevermind, thanks Lanzer. <3

Hype is one thing, sure. But remember, Colors on the Wii outsold Generations on fucking everything else. The reason it's less exciting to me isn't because of all those bells & whistles, isn't because it lacks Classic Sonic, but just because the gameplay doesn't look anywhere near as fun. There'll be more of it, the game will be longer, it'll be fun, and it probably won't suffer all the "no replayability" complaints that mainstream reviewers leveled at Generations. It just doesn't look as fun to play, and I very much doubt it'll get anywhere near the playtime for me that Unleashed, Colors, and Generations did.

Using quote tags on this post would be really confusing on an iPod, so I'm not going to bother.

I'm not talking about loops and spirals here. I'm talking about a Galaxy style, wacky floating world. Which is what they're clearly going for.

I'm not saying any design that's inherently "wacky" is a rip off of Mario. But since when do Sonic games feature giant honeycomb themed levels? And Sweet Mountain in Sonic Colors was at least partially justified, it was built by Eggman, and there were elements of the level that showed that. But in this we have a level that's just straight made of candy. Floating licorice and donuts in some weird pink void.

As for the gravity gimmick. There's a big difference between a one time use of the gimmick and basing an entire game off of it. But I do get that's it's been used before, S3, SA2, Sonic X-Treme, apparently. I'll give you that much.

And your response to my remark about inanimate objects with faces? Those are statues, that's not even remotely the same thing. And bugs and animals aren't inanimate objects, they do indeed have faces. A cartoonish animal or a statue aren't quite on the same level of wackiness as a giant rolling cactus with eyes and a mouth.

Someone uploaded the trailer on Youtube and it's not removed as of yet. If you wanna watch it on Youtube here ya go

Long version with shitty SA2 music:
    http://youtu.be/imqg6YkjM8g

Shorter version with the original sounds (horribly unsynced):
    http://youtu.be/PruDhANcaA8

I didn't watch the actual SOS trailer so I'm not sure if what's shown is all there is to the trailer in terms of actual gameplay footage.

You know I've noticed at least one kinda cool thing about this game. Each level seems to have it's own feel and own gimmicks to it (With grind railing seeming to be a very restricted gimmick this time it almost sorta counts as unique in this game). Windy Hill has clouds and those windmill gimmicks, the food level had those truffles, the honey comb level had mach speed, diving, and that Mario Kart blooper esq badnik, the casino level has pinball and bumpers and stuff, the forest level has grind rails. Sure, they're no where near as cool as the level gimmicks from the classics, but they seem to be pulling it off decently for the first time in a while (Unleashed and Colors didn't do this well, Generations was alright).

Loving the music in that trailer a lot. The levels showcased certainly show a lot more richness than what we've seen in the others up to this point. Still on the fence about this gameplay style, but I'm certainly leaning in the positive direction after seeing some of those levels.

I'm still wondering about when the developers are going to stop using old enemies and begin making new ones.
