I tried playing Casino's Street's platform crap playing like that and died for stopping too early and not being able to control my fall fast enough. When I do land, I lost that momentum that helps carry me across so I can't get to the next card fast enough and fall. If I try and air dash to give myself momentum I overshoot it and fall. I don't buy into people saying that ~precision jumping~ makes things easier. Momentum and platforming shouldn't have to fight with each other, because that used to be the whole point of these games and it worked fine. And in an automatic scrolling section, you think that moving slower is going to work in your favor?

Somebody, anybody, rework the old games to play like this. I want to see this.

vv edit: I didn't realize you just meant the actual boss fight. I can't imagine that, since I couldn't imagine even being able to get down there with physics like 4's, but I bet there'd be a lot of falling on spiked balls and short jumps into lava. But yeah, for me the fight starts when the music does.

Actually I wouldn't say it'd be outright easier, those platforms are moving on the slope of lava. Yeah you can try to gauge their speed but I don't think it'd work out as well or as easily. Like I said I'd like to see someone stick the Sonic 4 physics in there just to see how it works. My mind says it won't but who knows.

And I just realize there are multiple platforms on that boss, so let me clarify. I'm talking about when you actually have to battle/survive Robotnik on the pool of lava, not the platforming sections before it.

Is there a way to actually survive the last boss? Its ridiculous, once the floor is destroyed there's nowhere to go.

Jump right before he touches down to avoid his stun attack, then once his animation has ended, homing-attack him for the final hit. Even if you are stunned, as long as you aren't too far away from where he lands, you should have enough time to hit him.

Shame that the "difficulty" of that boss is thrown out the window with the fire shield.
Which just so conveniently happens to be nearby before you actually meet the boss.

That said, I think that Sonic 4 physics would be totally amazing in the following levels:
    Marble Gardens
Ice Cap (because I can totally do 30-something percent of Act 2 with no hands)
    Launch Base
    Flying Battery
    Death Egg
The Doomsday (because clearly, you're going to have to hold right to move forward).

I'm working on working up the willpower to work on learning how to make my own Sonic fangames. Not quite there yet.
Wait a tick, are you saying that boss would be easier if you had to precisely STOP directly above where you think a platform is going to be when you land?

    ...

    No, I'm not seeing it.

I'm going to play Sonic 2 with my feet. Right now. Why haven't I tried this sooner?

Edit: Shit in my mouth. Nephew just waltzed in with some "I'm going to take a nap in your bed and I'm not going to do it anywhere else" bull. GUESS I'LL HAVE TO WAIT

Go to the Leaderboard and scroll to each of the stages in turn. You'll see a message that says "Registering to Leaderboard..." Let it register you, then move on to the next stage's board.

Kind of tedious, but at least it lets you register scores you might have gotten while playing offline.

Also, you have to specifically do them in time trial.

Yep. That does mean everything from regular acts to bosses to special stages.

I don't know why Sonic 4 didn't include a "record everything to leaderboard" feature. With my shitty internet, I don't have to patience to do that everytime I feel like having all of my scores updated where as if the game had that feature, I could select that and then do something else while I wait for it all to upload.

    In its current form? No.

A disc-based compilation once all the episodes are out? If it happens, sure. Only reason I haven't bought it is my existing stance on DRM'd downloads =P

    Hey guys.

I'm currently in the middle of recording the entire Wii soundtrack for this game, and I'm having trouble finding a way to listen to one.

Does anyone know where to find speed shoes in Casino Street Act 3?

I'm about halfway done, I need a saved game/savestate with Super Sonic though (if it's a savestate, I need a savestate with the sound turned off, the music turned all the way up, and as normal sonic but with more than 50 rings), and a savestate with the Final Boss just beaten at the clear screen (with the same requirements as the last savestate).

If anyone could help, that'd be great.

Why? Just extract the files from the .wad.
    They're supported by vgmstream.

If you're implying that the Wii version uses .aax files, which are supported by vgmstream, then you're mistaken. The Wii version is using sequenced versions of the music that sound different. Some people want an MP3 version here...

I do have vgmstream and I tried everything to get the .brsar working in it, and it will only recognize the .rwavs inside the file that have to be unpacked.

EDIT: Also, where the heck are the speed shoes for act 1 of Lost Labyrinth? I could've sworn they were in the Act somewhere but I can't find them...

    Just thought you should know.
