I don't even view it as quills protecting him. It's chemicals, right? Ducking stops it getting in his eyes.

"But OL he was running around in the same stuff earlier in the leve-"-SHUT UP I CAN'T HEAR YOU

That limp wristed swill that you go through earlier in the stage doesn't compare to the concentrated stuff Robotnik dumps on you.

I wasn't even aware of that until now. It's not really a difficult boss anyway, the only hard parts are when you try to bounce on him too many times and you can't bounce back onto solid ground so you land on the pipes that flip.

Are there any Sonic 2 bosses (besides perhaps MZ) that can't be raped like that?

For some reason they like to float at or below Sonic's level, as opposed to above like in Sonic 1, making most of them laughably easy.

Well, when I said I misinterpreted the water as poison it was because of when you faced the boss you died because of screen lock if you jumped in the water. The stuff that does actually hurt you is the Mega Mack which is what I thought 1) Came out the tubes and 2) Eggman threw at you. I guess all the purple water is a side effect.

    Aquatic Ruin?

it's a lot harder to do to the Casino Night boss too.

Aquatic Ruin is easy to abuse if you get on top of the totem poles.

The purple water is water with a purple color, like in Scrap Brain 3. Blame the western manuals for brainwashing you.

I wonder if sega ever intended to have the chemical plant water zap your rings away slowly like those piranha badniks in sonic 3? robotnik is just filtering out the water and dropping the concentrated crap on your head after all :P

It is clearly the blue goop from the pipes. The purple water is just purple water. It does not cause you any harm because it is only water. You don't lose your rings when you fall in it because it is just purple fucking water.

    WATER.

Water with a bunch of chemicals in it that discolor it to purple while not particularly being any more harmful than normal water, anyway. I mean, sheesh, it has to be called "Chemical Plant" for a reason.

Maybe it has something to do with the blue goop that flows through the pipes and actually jumps out and physically attacks you

Or maybe there's mega mack in Scrap Brain 3, too. I dunno. Whichever makes the most sense to you.

All right MR. POWER GAMER. Some of us still have PTSD from playing that boss at 6 years old, beating it with extreme difficulty, and then FALLING INTO THE FUCKING WATER AFTERWARDS AAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGFGSFDS.

I also found Silver Sonic to be considerably harder than the last boss, so sucks to be me.

Also, what Overlord said. The blue stuff is concentrated nastiness that gets in Sonic's eyes. The pink stuff is Mega Mack (rtfm!), and while allegedly poisonous, in practice you'll drown before you get cancer.

Yes, but I seriously doubt that there are blue hedgehogs that run really fast and defy the laws of gravity...

It's a game, it doesn't have to make sense...
