  1. Just build Joypolis parks where the DisneyQuests once stood. :eng101:

I mean evidently Sega's connection with Disney didn't just cut off in the 90's as Sonic continued to appear in Wreck it Ralph. But with the Sonic movies being done by Paramount it's hard to say if a collaboration at Disneyland is still possible. At this point I'd say it'd be more likely for something like a "Sonic land" to show up at a Nickelodeon park.

Translating Sonic info. Working on Concept Mobius. Also, trying to find extant footage of original Sonic CD special stage.
So apparently it's been revealed during the official Sonic Japan-Asia Tour 2024 by Iizuka when asked by a fan that Dr Eggman is either in his 50s or below, that Gerald had two sons (One was Dr Eggman's father, the other was Maria's father.), that Maria is older than Dr Eggman and that Dr Eggman never personally knew Gerald and Maria.

Personally, I always speculated that he's 55-60/early 60s. It's cool to get a general idea as to his actual age.

For 50; he doesn't look bad...

...in any incarnation really, early 90's, mid 2000's, lately...

I feel like every single one of those things was already known.

Except MAYBE him not knowing his grandfather personally. I forgot what Frontiers said about that from one of his logs.

In the classic days at least Hoshino considered him about 60 going off this artwork.

There's something familiar about this game:

In its defense, the Amiga did do the chequered ball first.

    In fact you could say

Sonic has been literally running on an Amiga (logo) since 1994!

... I mean you wouldn't say that, but you could

Yeah, I was tempted to bring up the boing ball demo -- the Sonic reference is unmistakable but there's a reason there's only a single stage color

In late 2005 a single issue of Sonic Magazine (France) was published in France. Scans have existed since 2021 but we didn't have a mirror until now.

It's a largely redundant publication in 2024 but there is an interesting quirk

Their Mega Drive emulator of choice can't handle shadow/highlight mode. Somewhere deep within this topic I posted a similar screenshot, as this feature was broken for prototype builds of Sonic Jam.

Very few Mega Drive games make use of this feature - Sonic 2 and 3's Special Stages and Toy Story are the only ones that spring to mind, so I guess it's easy to miss.

Tons of games used it. Along with the games you mentioned there's Ristar's Dark Woods boss, Vectorman's level Tidal Surge, Ranger-X's 2nd level, and Dynamite Headdy's first boss (And I think the level results? They could also use darkened palettes for the results for each level but that seems like a waste of ROM). It wasn't exactly a secret or something that'd be easy to miss, if it were my guess it'd be that it's a semi-difficult feature to implement for someone not super familiar with the Mega Drive's hardware.

Just Tidal Surge? Vectorman uses it in pretty much every level, and even for some of the main character's animations. The sequel uses it only in about one level though, due to the limitations of the effect.

Fair enough, I just pulled up a quick gameplay video and jumped to a random point to make sure I was remembering correctly that it did use shadow/highlight mode.

ĐeäTh has discovered early names for Sonic Colors's levels in leftover code in Colors Ultimate:
    • "Welcome Resort" (Tropical Resort)
    • "Sweet Factory" (Sweet Mountain)
    • "Star Ship Parade" (Starlight Carnival)
    • "Planet Pixie" (Planet Wisp, suggesting Wisps were called Pixies early in development)
    • "Exotic Aquarium" (Aquarium Park)
    • "Asteroid Coaster" (same as final)
Worth noting, "Welcome Resort" is still used on a decoration in Tropical Resort in the final

EDIT: I have been informed that Eggman refers to Aquarium Park as "the exotic aquarium" in the Aquarium Park PA announcements, in addition.
