This is indeed an interesting bit of a find. Several things I wanna say atm, in this order:

1.) "Time Eater" seems to be likely the main force behind the time shenanigans, as well as the final boss. But what exactly is it? A humanoid mastermind? Your typical monster-of-the-week that just happens to like to go om nom nom with time itself? A forgotten toy of Dr. Robotnik/Eggman? Who knows. Maybe one of you more artistic types would like to give drawing what you think it may look like a try.

2.) Seaside Hill actually isn't too bad a choice, all things considered. We can at least can hopefully get some sort of a water section here (as was made obvious from the drowning music found in the demo), and plus, think of this: one sonic could get the namesake zone mainly (Modern, perhaps), while the Classic Sonic version could get mainly stuff from Ocean Palace, so as to cover the two-level "tropical/water-ish zone" part of Sonic Heroes". Finally, I wanna see how they take the "team character-specific obstacles" and turn them into something each Sonic can traverse.

3.) The boss list seems interesting. Metal Sonic has several ways for it to go (either Sonic CD or Sonic 3&K route will work for me), "Death Egg" could mean anything......but I think I gots an idea: It seems to be the third one listed, so it'd be for the Sky Sanctuary Zone. Thus, maybe we'd fight a boss inside the Death Egg, with Classic fighting the Sonic Knuckles final boss, and the Modern one being a fight with said boss while racing through the Death Egg Zone's many pitfalls, hoping you don't fail with timing your jumps. Eh, I man can hope, can't he?

4.) One of the bosses says Silver on it.

    YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!!!

    "It's no use! It's no use! It's no-" *brick'd*

5.) Me likies the Modern version's version of GHZ actually. It's probably me, but it kinda sounds like Ska music. Srsly, listen to some Ska music and then listen to Modern GHZ, and then come back to me on that. Transitions could be better, but eh, I ain't complaining if I can at least add it to my music collection. :v:

6.) Elemental shield are back? Nice. Also, Motobug + ring icon has me curious. Something like the Eggman monitors from Sonic 3&K? having a motobug spawn from it? Or even better, changing you temporarily into a Motobug? Oh god, I'd lol if they did that.

7.) With Speed Highway, you guys forget that there was more to the level than the dark gritty nighttime portion and building downward run section you all remember. There was also another section, set at dawn (ish), where you could both run and platform, as well as be careful around cars driving on the streets, bots, and even that fountain at least 85% of you used the first time to reach the end of the stage. Plus, you all remember going in there to get emerald shards and whatever in Knuckles' portion of the thing. It definitely at least has enough to give some sort of different variety, even if it's not much.

8.) If Sonic 06 was going to get a level, I think this would be alright with me. It definitely was somewhat original with how it did the whole City trope zone, and it did have a pretty good tune for it as well. I don't mind this one at all.

9.) Chemical Plant Zone in gonna be so much fun to go through. Plus, we can finally realize and play what was first shown in that one 3D pic of CPZ. You know the one I'm talking about.

10.) Seems strange for me, but this is the one that kinda peeved me off a bit. Basically, I was hoping that a.) they'd treat the Sonic 3 and Sonic Knuckles games seperate so as to give each one its own zone, and b.) that they'd at least chose a zone that was more "popular", so to speak, like Hydrocity, Ice Cap, Flying Battery or Lava Reef Zone. But eh, it's alright. And plus, remastered Sky Sanctuary Zone music, def. a plus.

11.) If Casino Night Zone is DLC, then I assume/hope that they do extra zones you'd buy as DLC. Think about it: Sonic Team releases the game and the fans are bummed that some of their favorite zones aren't in the final game. Then, a couple months later, DLC in the form of new zones to go through are placed in the XBL Market/PSN that you could add to the list of zones you could play through.....for a small fee of monies. It's a brilliant way of doing it if they do it like that: The fans get the zones they want and only have to DL the ones they want (and not DL the ones they don't wanna buy), Sonic Team would only have to focus on making new zones and what-not to play through for the thing until moved to the next big thing, and Sega gets to finally have something that prints money for them, thus making every party satisfied and ensuring the game's long-lasting re-playability through whatever crazy shenanigans Sonic Team uploads next (and of course possible online leaderboards/races, but that's probably a given). But eh, that's just me. :v:

12.) Knuckles could prove to be interesting indeed for the demo if he does do something of notice in it.

13.) Somebody needs to draw a pic of Super Sonic with that mustache, that is all.

I'm doing a sort-of "SG remix" thing where I'm remixing the tune of each zone that appears in the game, and then uploading it before the end of the day, so as to do my part for the big 2-0.

Hope you guys enjoy the day, because I sure am. :V

OH calm down, it's probably just a leftover from Unleashed :colbert:

And, about Seaside Hill, the screenshots shown earlier suggest that it's Ocean Palace instead of Seaside Hill, and Ocean Palace is a different trope to Seaside Hill, I'm personally ok with that.

*edit* Dat invincible music... I love it.

Well, so far this "Time Eater" has only been described as an unknown force, right? In that case, couldn't it be possible that the Time Eater is a machine created and used by Classic and/or Modern Eggman?

My translation of the list. It seems there are versus character and co-op character missions, Sonic Ghost is most likely a time attack, and most of the missions sound like they are stages with a theme in them, like a certain enemy or stage gimmick. Also, go to the end for list of CG Cutscenes.

    CLASSIC GREEN HILL ZONE
Mission 1: Sonic Ghost (beat the time attack ghost)
Mission 2: Beaton (that's the fish badniks)
    Mission 3: Vs Knuckles
Mission 4: Swings (likely involving the Green Hill swings)
    Mission 5: High Speed (*shrugs*)

    MODERN GREEN HILL ZONE:
    Mission 1: Ordered Dash Ring
    Mission 2: VS Tails (....wut)
    Mission 3: Sonic ghost

    CLASSIC SKY SANCTUARY ZONE

Ah I see, I must have forgotten it then as I played SA2 a loooong time ago. I also felt that the Sonic Demo seems older build from the E3 one. Someone said about the buzzbomber and the platform thing that where you are launched by the springs near the edge where you bounce from buzzbomber to the upper platform, the latest game has platform instead of the buzzbomber... correct me if I'm wrong. I try to get the image of that place.

Makes you wonder why, with our vast Sonic-related wiki documenting twenty years worth of fine details, nobody bothered to list this (and the other unused tracks).

In fact scratch that - none of the Sonic research communities over the last thirteen years have written about it. How odd.

Thanks :D Gonna have some fun doing all these :D (Provided there aren't any annoying glitches and poor level design preventing me, Bah!)

  13. I think we need a thread in E&RE dedicated to the Demo findings. It would be a lot better, and easier to sort through.

Can someone explain something to me? please?

Sonic 06 was canonically erased from time, it never happened.

So how, then, does Sonic go back to the past to go to Crisis City if it ISNT in the past?

Well hey, Egg Dragoon was a Werehog boss :ssh:

I dunno why they even have it there considering the life icons are completely different.

Wow, I didn't even realize this was out today until I checked my twitter and saw the Sonic Retro twitter on about it. Immediately on with the Xbox to download the demo for me.

My first impression? Thanks for making feel like a child again, Sega. Seriously and as corny as this sounds, I was close to tears playing through this. Such a nostalgia blast.

One thing that bothered me was the fact I think Classic Sonic doesn't jump high enough but apart from that, I'm liking what I see so far.

Perhaps each timeline is its own independent dimension like how Dragon Ball Z handled it with the normal timeline and Future Trunks' timeline

    Doing absolutely nothing
I've gotta say, Classic Sonic looks absolutely perfect in 3D. His animations are spot on really delightful, I spent a couple minutes just watching his idle poses and standing at the edge of platforms watching him wail his arms around. I really hope SEGA uses Classic Sonic again, he's just too perfect to throw away after one game.
