That looks, and indeed sounds, really sweet. Would you consider using using AoStH Robotnik samples? =P

Thanks for your feedback. And the answer to your question, probably not =P

I'm NOT CRAZY
That's not what other members have been telling me =P
The sad thing is this might well be true.

Besides that, I fully support your latest video; custom bosses and fancy things with sound drivers are always great. Robotnik Breakout is a pretty great idea for a boss! Do you have any others in mind?

Yes, I have other bosses in mind. I have 3 in mind. There will be some bosses from Sonic 2 I will leave in the game, but they all have been edited to include Pinch Mode.

I look forward to seeing your new bosses.

Since it came up, I forgot to say that I liked your newly designed font. In any case, anything beats Comic Sans! :british:

Mmm not sure exactly, something from scratch or inspired from another.
What kind of letter resolution are we talking..16x16? 16x32?

Yesterday I agreed to help out with the art so that RHS can focus more on the programming side of things and worry less about making them look nice, as he isn't very confident when it comes to art editing. I've started by cleaning up the first zone, tidying up the existing art and adding new art in to try and vary it up a bit, as it was pretty bland. Below are a couple of early WIP screenshots, comments and criticism welcome.

I see the italic HUD was taken care of like I asked.

What's going on with that bridge though? Why those colors?

You're on board now? Now I'm looking forward to this even more. Beach looks nicer, I like what you did with the sky but its hard to tell without comparison screenshots. Mind posting the old version and your version side by side?

Also I eagerly await seeing new Chaos Angel art. I loved it in SAdv3, yet just putting it into a genesis game didn't look quite right.

\/ Much better, everything fits together more.

Because the palette has been altered but the bridge art hasn't been altered to accomodate the new palette, hence the "WIP" I mentioned earlier.

Yeah, that's more like it! Great improvements.

Also, Asteron? I'd probably never have had the idea, but that rat bastard makes a lot of sense in a beach level.

West Bay Zone looks so much more vivid and nicely edited now.

StephenUK has always been good with art and I've always like his work. When he gave me this offer, I couldn't say no =P

Yeah, he's always been in West Bay Zone. Thought a starfish would suit =P

Here is a new video! Please note, the Title screen is a work-in-progress!

Link

Edited SEGA logo by me, SSRG screen by MarkeyJester, and then a Work-in-Progress title screen by me. Pressing start will make the "Press Stat Button" rapidly flash and take you to Portal. Then hitting logo 1 takes you to West Bay. Notice the smoothness of the title card font when entering and leaving the area. And that it comes from one side, then exits another side (whereas Sonic 2, it entered and exited the same side).

I then restart the game, and go to the title screen again, entered a cheat, and show you the "Cheats Enabled" text, then entering level select. It also enables Debug too, which is demonstrated in Gem Runway 2.

What do you lo think so far?

EDIT:

Please be warned, because of Youtube's shit quality, it may be hard to notice
  • Press Start Button rapidly flashing when presseing start
  • Sonic's burst looking odd in Gem Runway 2
