When you look at the VRAM in QQ good future there are Sonic TV tiles that correspond with the Robotnik ones from the bad future, however, they're not used anywhere in the layout. Taxman added them in, gaining innumerable awesome points in the process. So, were they in the original? Yes, technically, but also no.
The video files can be found easily, and the videos are dual audio .ogv files that I can play easily. If there was a video editor with ogv support that could replace the one track, I'd think we'd be perfectly fine. Does anybody know how to do this? I'll make a .zip of the files and send them to anyone who could do so. EDIT: Here they are http://www.mediafire.com/?uxlg53bw8176uvd
I actually did this a bit back and didn't think to post it. Figured someone else had probably done it and that I'd just missed the link somewhere. Ah well, here you go. http://sara.wingdreams.net/junk/scdjpnvidfix.zip If anyone wants to mirror it or anything, be my guest.
Awe, these aren't dual audio. The English versions no longer work in game due to that. Good thing I have the originals backed up in case I wanna watch the US versions. But thanks- I knew someone had to have done this. Though, when I tried watching the good and bad endings in the visual mode, they got cut off before the end. Wonder if that's just me.
So I finally got around to playing this with Tails (well, currently playing) and I have to say this game is a lot more fun playing as him than Sonic because of the way the levels were designed. <_< Sucks that I still can't adjust the damn volume. Too bad Knuckles wasn't added too, but I'm glad Tails was added at least. Any idea why the picture isn't cleaner in this game? Out of all the pixelated games I play, this game is probably the least sharp of them all. :/
Yes they are, just change the audio channel in whatever you're playing them in. Yeah, I'm getting that problem, too. Also, when I'm playing the video files by themselves, the video ends early but the audio continues. It happens in the opening, too. God damn, how can audio swapping in a video be so complicated? :v:
Odd, for me, if I switch to the US soundtrack, the videos won't play. If there's another audio track, why won't it work in-game?
Hm. I do wonder how the video got cut off. I used the video stream exactly rather than re-encoding. I guess I better take another look at it.
You do have it on "Nostalgia," right? How does that picture not look clean to you? I get that problem, too. This is one weird file they made. Thank you so much for doing this. You are my hero.

So I got this game a month ago for Xbox 360. I even wrote a review of this game, It was really worth the 5 bucks, I would even buy it for a higher price. I congratulate SEGA and Christian Whitehead for this game. EDIT: I also bought the Steam version, but it strangely doesn't work in my Laptop with Windows 7, despite it working in my PC with Windows XP. It says soniccd.exe has stopped working, anyone help?
So, I've attempted a run to get all the trophies in one go. Question: Will getting all the time stones (which I've just done) stop you from getting the "Savior of the Planet" trophy?
I believe it will unless you destroy all the metal Sonic projectors and robot generators BEFORE you get the seventh time stone. Which means you have to get that last time stone after beating Metallic Madness Act 2 if you want a chance at getting all the achievements in one run. EDIT: I knew The Taxman had already addressed this earlier and I just found it.
Not having a level select sucks. Sure, there's a time attack mode, but I only get one life and no ability to choose Tails. :| I'm not going to lie, this port is a big letdown. I was hoping this port would resolve a lot of flaws and stupid oddities from the original game, but it didn't other than allow me to use a spindash that doesn't suck and loop the music. Here are a list of things that should've been implemented. -Allow me to disable the time limit. I get time over'd constantly in this game while trying to search for things. -Give me a good level select. -Allow playing as Tails to at least give you some kind of reward. I can understand why some achievements are disabled for Tails, but I can't have any of the extras unlocked from playing as him and I can't unlock a single achievement with him. The fact I can't even play as him in the time attack is also pretty irritating since I don't get a level select. -Cleaner picture options. I don't understand why my emulator games should look sharper than this game. Nostalgia doesn't look bad, but playing Sonic CD on an emulator gives me a sharper picture. -Customizable controls? Not everyone uses 360 emulation for their controllers. I don't understand why none of these things were implemented. It doesn't seem I'm asking much to have these things implemented. I know I mentioned some of this in the past, but it really frustrated me just now when I wanted to play a certain level as Tails but couldn't so I felt like ranting. Edit- Is this game goddamn serious? There isn't time travel in time attack mode? Really? You know what would have been awesome? If you could unlock the ability to play any damn level starting at any time period. That would've been awesome.
But that IS in the game. But unfortunately for you, you need to play the time attack mode to get to it. Bit of a sad twist of fate, there.
Firstly, there is a Stage Select. You need to get a best total time for the special stages in Time Attack mode that is under 5 minutes (I think 5). Then Stage Select will be in the extras menu. You can select any stage and timezone from there. Secondly, time travel was never in time attack mode. The idea is that the focus is on completing the level in a single run through as fast as possible. Running fast would be interrupted by dodging the Future and Past posts. Lastly, I assume you're talking about the Steam version. I wasn't working on that SKU and so I had no control over the video filtering, keyboard customization etc. The Steam version was a port of the XBLA port. My own 'native' PC version of the Retro-Engine has these things implemented (as shown below) but understand this is a project I was contracted for and therefore it's not my place to break chain of command.
Oh... Can I select Tails in the stage select? The main reason it bothered me was the fact I thought there wasn't a stage select. Oh my god, that looks so much cleaner. Why the hell didn't SEGA just implement the stuff you already did? :/ Edit- I can't seem to find the special stages in time attack mode...
