Sonic Generations Megathread

In daft defiance of everything going on here, I've re-downloaded the Sonic 2k6 demo while I wait for Xbox Live. I'd love to get it on PS3 and play with my Saturn controller, too, but being on custom firmware puts the kibosh on the PSN Store these days.

 

Go to "ALL DEMOS"... scroll down and you should find it.
It doesn't appear on the new section or going to letter "S".

Confirming now, its up on US XBOX Live marketplace in all its short limited expiring in 20 days glory.

I probably should have mentioned that I had a stream going. I could upload the video of the run but I rather do a clean recording.

I have Xbox Live Gold (US) and I see the preview for the demo on "demos" but it doesn't show up on the list or on newest. Should be any moment now.

I'm not playing the demo while connected to xbox live, im gonna purposely set the date to right before the trial expires and see what happens ;D

Demo doesn't seem to phone home to get the time left; it works without an Internet connection. Changing the clock doesn't do anything either; can't force it to lock you out...

Hmm.

If we can find out how this keeps track of time, we can preserve it...

 

I have Silver, and it's been like that for like ten minutes now. I'm caving and buying Gold as soon as it's up.

 

And the news on PS3 is that its not there yet?

I was smart enough to change my Xbox's clock before starting the game for the first time

Result? I have THIRTY minutes left on the demo it says

I also LAUGH that the demo says "You need to be on xbox live to start the demo" when you don't.

 

Welp, sounds like we know how it stores the time, haha.

Be sure to tell us what happens when the demo time ends

 

I'm getting an under maintenance at the Hong Kong Playstation site.

 

Second note, to anyone that wants to avoid the demo locking them out

Download this demo before/if they update it, DO NOT Start the game.

Copy the demo to your USB Flashdrive if you have one, then take out the flashdrive and start the demo for the first time off your hard drive.

After the demo locks you out, delete the game from your hard drive, run an Xbox Hard Drive Cache Clear (it's in the memory option), then simply copy the game onto your hard drive from the flashdrive, disconnect from xbox live, set date back, and whoola.

NOTE: If you started the game at least once, you're fucked. The game has internal memory that keeps track of the date from when you first activate it according to your xbox. you MUST copy it to your flashdrive BEFORE booting the game up for the first time. Otherwise, you'll have to delete, redownload, and clear your xbox's cache before doing this.

 

Install completed. Now gonna play! YES!
