"Cutefluffykittens" is actually that JOURNALISM site by a ginger guy. That should give enough hints. This event will certainly be interesting, but will they actually listen to everything? I bet they'll have to endure a load of those Refund Program screenshots. =P
Don't suppose there's any chance someone could give them feedback from a Brit who can't make it? Only there's two things I'd like to add for the next episode. 1) Level exits/introductions like in Sonic 3, would be cool. Like when Sonic is fired out of the cannon in Carnival Night, and shows up in Ice Cap on a snowboard. Or when you fight Robotnik as Tails carrying Sonic and that segues into Carnival Night. Or even the start when Sonic enters Angel Island in Super form. That sort of interlinking was cool. 2) Speaking of Tails carrying Sonic, we're going to see a 2-player co-op mode coming up, right? Or classic "Tails following Sonic" mode at the very least.
What would be convenient is that a few people close to San Francisco represent Sonic Retro at this feedback session. Thanks to the refund contest, we already have a lot of materials that clearly show what needs to be improved, there's also videos that serve as constructive critics of the game, particularly the ones Slingerland quoted in his review. A lot of members also have solid ideas that could help making Sonic 4 better, including the two ideas Steven M suggested.
Sky Canyon was an amazing level, and it's only difficult if you don't know how to do tricks (although I will admit that there are a few cheap shots, but seriously, what Sonic level doesn't have them) Leaf Forest > Splash Hill Music Plant >>>>> Casino Street well, Sonic Advance 2 didn't have a level dedicated to water... but Hot Crater > Lost Labyrinth Egg Utopia >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mad Gear. But you know, that's just my opinion. Sonic 4 doesn't even touch the old games because the design is too flawed. Sonic Advance 1, 2, and 3 all met their purpose. Same with Sonic Rush and Rush Adventure to the point where while the physics are kinda wonky, the point is to go fast and as long as you're going fast they really aren't a problem. But Sonic 4 has the audacity to use the Sonic Rush engine in classic style gameplay, which obviously doesn't work out too well. That said, I find it amazing that people slowed down to find out that the physics are garbage in the Rush games, but aren't able to slow down in Sonic Advance 2 and 3 to find out that the game has alternate paths and legit platforming... well, SA3 has legit platforming... not so much 2 though.
Shit layout, and one of the worst tropes in game history. The thing about Advance 2 is, it didn't just have a few cheap shots here and there. They were littered throughout the entire game. I'll give it credit, the engine is decent, but that's about it. While Sonic 4 had lousy physics, I personally enjoyed the visuals, music, level layouts, and overall design far more than Advance 2.
Nearly every level other than Mystic Cave, Oil Ocean, and Metropolis? Because honestly, those zones and Star Lights "surprise buttsecks" speed-section deathpit are the only times I can recall being sucker-punched in the Genesis games.
Okay, wait a minute, what's the definition of a cheap shot? I'm talking about places where you unfairly lose rings and/or a life, and there are plenty of levels in the Genesis classics that have them, until you memorize them and you're like, "Okay, you're not going to get me this time." What you call cheap shots in those Sonic 2 levels are nothing to me. That said, you mean to tell me that Marble, Spring Yard, Labyrinth, and Scrap Brain didn't have cheap shots?
http://blogs.sega.com/usa/2010/10/27/join-...vent/#more-6541 SEGA is holding a formal event where one of the included events is receiving fan feedback for Sonic 4 for future title.s Anyone going, in San Fransisco? EDIT: Late I see. Oh well.
I find Sky Canon a lot more fun than most of the levels in Sonic 4. <_< Has anyone here signed up for that yet? I live no where near SF so I obviously can't go. That would be pretty awesome if someone showed this animated GIF on a mobile device in the room where they have the community feedback for Sonic 4.
You best be trollin. And wow, they're actually somewhat dedicating a meet in San Fran based around feelings on the game so far? Question is, how many people on Retro are planning on going? :v:
I don't see what they're going to find out at that meeting that they can't just come and learn from skimming through Retro's plethora of Sonic 4 threads since last fall.
BTW there is a sale going on the IPhone and for Halloween some select SEGA titles are getting a price drop, including Sonic 4. It costs $6.99 for now.
I honestly believe that he's telling the truth. + - Which is why Dimps should be fired and Team Megamix, or Pelikan13 and Mercury, or The Taxman (or all of them) should be brought in.
Well, that kinda answers the question I posted a few pages back. I might buy it so I'm not so bored in class. I liked the 360 version and I want to try the minecart, but I hope the controls aren't as bad as I've heard they are.
So soon? So is Apple going to intervene and give those who bought it half a month ago an $8 gift card/voucher?
I will be in Los Angeles that weekend, but I'm booked for a Food Network shoot. If I didn't have anything, I would certainly attend simply to experience it. Although, personally, the fan feedback thing is a silly idea. Gauging the opinion of many people in a forum or reading the through the common gripes in reviews is more helpful than 50 people in person. I wouldn't put it past those 50 people to just hand out asspats the whole time. I don't see why they need to do it, really. They should know what works and what doesn't by now.
Having some IRL feedback to gauge against feedback on the Internet can be helpful in determining what's down-to-Earth and reasonable as opposed to what's over-the-top and exaggerated, mind. Mostly because you can't ALLCAP with your voice without looking like a retard, and it's kind of hard to work grammar fail into a vocal sentence. EDIT: Mind you, it still looks more like a way of making a public spectacle of the "feedback" thing for marketing purposes, but I subscribe to the school of thought that asserts there can be, and usually are, at least two reasons for nearly everything someone does.
From TSSZ's comments section in an article about this event: Pack your bags retro, were going on a trip!
Ben Kalough will also be at the event too if something doesn't happen. Just remember that the focus is on Sonic 4, okay?
