    All we need are

    1: Sonic. Duh, no explanation.
2: Tails. I'm biased against the idea of no Tails, so stfu
3: Eggman. What would a game be without the classic arch nemesis?
4: Knuckles. Again, this is a good character.

Everyone else, except Chaos and Gamma are pretty much redundant copies.

*sigh* If only the Sonic Games would be Old School again. Sonic and Tails running through Emerald Coast, Knuckles beatin the shit outta Sonic in Hidden Palace, Eggman Stroki--- Laughing violently at the carnage caused by Knux and Sonic fighting...

Hey, hey, hey. Sonic Adventure 2 was awesome, and you know it. Can't say much for Shadow yet. However, Sonic Adventure 2 pales in comparison to Sonic Adventure.

I like Shadow a lot as a character, but he should really have better moves and stuff. He's just a clone. Also, if his little yellow thing was red, I'd orgasm. literally.

I don't think things got too bad until sonic adventure came out. but then the last REAL sonic game was 5 years old, so maybe they wanted to put new life into the series and give it a varity of gameplay- which they very much did. now, I liked SA1 but to me it honestly didn't feel like a sonic game. sure at times u ran around real fast but since when in sonic had there been an "adventure field". that aspect of it reminded me more of the zelda series than sonic.

I thought SA2 was great and it felt more like a sonic game. sure rouge was a lame tacked on charactor but they did need some more female supporting charactors. I loved shadow though, but that's probably just because I grew up a bit and sonic and tails didn't appeal to me as much anymore.

I have mixed feelings about sonic heroes, I mean how much more classic can you get with a 3d somic game- it had special stages for christ's sake. and bringing in the chaotx really was a nice move for them.

I think shadow's game is the best 3d sonic game yet- if you do consider it a true sonic game. the whole gun thing did kinda upset me but I accepted it when they had sonic explicitly saying "I wouldn't be caught dead using those things"

now consider what's possibly worse than adding 100 new charactors in a single game- has anyone else noticed eggman being more and more friendly to the sonic cast? I mean they joind forces since SA2 and they haven't been able to get rid of him since. I guess they have to change him to make the whole plot more interesting and add new bad guys but it just seems wrong to me considering robotnik a good guy.

Woah, woah, woah. Back it up. Shadow is most definately NOT the best 3D title. Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 feel a lot more "Sonic-y". Shadow is, comparing to all the other titles (excluding spin-offs such as Labyrinth), a freak. Now don't get me wrong, I like Shadow. I like Shadow a whole lot more than I like Sonic Heroes. But even still, that doesn't change the fact that it's farther enough away from the original formula to make Heroes seem like a classic style Sonic title. It's a nice game, but it really isn't Sonic.

No, they just need to forget that Eggman helped them in Sonic Adventure 2 and Heroes, pretty much like they forgot about the Super Emeralds and characters like Metal Knuckles and Ray the Flying Squirrel.

well, shadow's game could really be on the edge of the coin as far as being a sonic/non-sonic game. on one side the gameplay is about 90% the same as the other 3d sonic gameplay with more elements added to it (guns, cars, the good-evil system), and all the cast is there. on the other side you don't ever play as sonic. which brings an interesting point- are games like knuckles chaotix and shadow true sonic games? I'll leave that up to discussion. but...

I'm going to pick a side and say that sure, both are true sonic games. but I completely understand if you think neither of them really are. and don't get me wrong- all the games were really really good but come on, who the hell needs a fishing game in a sonic title? how can shadow be less sonic-y than that?

remember he was kinda 50-50 good/evil in shadow.

Well, let's analyze every character since the first game, shall we?

Tails: Great on Genesis, annoying now.
Metal Sonic: Don't like the name? How about "Dr. Robotnik aka Eggman's robot designed to resemble Sonic." This guy is awesome, but sucked majorly in Heroes. Was best in Knux vs. MS in S3&K.
Knuckles: Added more variety to S3&K, making it even better.
Amy: Not much of a character, but Sega needed girls playing Sonic.
The Chaotix: These guys added some needed variety to KC.
    Fang/Nack: Never played that game
    Big: Go away.
Gamma: Added some new gameplay, but it really didn't fit the Sonic style.
Tikal: Good character, but don't bring her back.
Chaos: I would really like a new fight with him, but don't bring him back. It would make him suck.
    Shadow: Emo fag.
    Rouge: Bitchy whore.
    Cream: Kill her.
    Omega: Awesome idea implemented horribly.

  7. I fail to see how they added "variety." The levels were still all pretty monotonous. The didn't have seperate paths. And Charmy made everything almost too easy. Anyway, Knuckles' Chaotix was pretty much designed around the Chaotix - that's like saying that Zero added "variety" to Mega Man Zero.

Yes, let's ridicule any different opinion.

I personally think Shadow is one of the best, if not the best, 3d game. It has great gameplay, interesting levels, a good replay value, and a pretty good storyline.
But what do I know? I guess I'm just not a true Sonic fan...

My lack of respect for his opinion came from the fact that he had poor grammar and looked like an idiot all around, not just his opinion.

Sonic 3D Blast is the best 3D game, I mean it has 3D in the title!

Thanks, now I don't have to say anything. :D
As much as Sonic Team SHOULD settle down a little with new characters, Blaze, and Jet the Hawk, are truely awesome.
Jet the Hawk is so obviously a remake of Bean it's not even funny, though. XD
Sonic Team should bring back some old characters like Ray and Mighty, but, yeah, no reason to complain, as you just proved, Trigahd.

Well now, I'm sorry if what I was saying made me sound like an idiot. I was however trying to add some actual content to the discussion and give my thoughts on the games. It's not like I had typed "LOLOLOL SONICISTEHWIN!!1 MORE NEKKID PIKS PLZ" or any gibbirsh like that. It did seem important to me that what I said have meaning since I had passed a quiz to be considered for membership.

Back on topic- The whole sonic series in general seems to be getting more and more story based as consoles are getting more advanced. Again, we didn't have 3+ new charactors until sonic adventure, when we went from the last real game being on a 16-bit or 32-bit system and the newest one on a 128-bit system. Something has to happen in order to have a rich fulfilling game with deep story, and it seems in order to do that you have to have new people come in. Of course when this happens game after game the newness of the technique isn't so new and the additional people are regarded as empty filler. So maybe sonic team needs to try something new again, or maybe even revert back to the old style of gameplay where there is less story and use only the classic charactors.

I, good sir, am in serious disagreement with you. You have personally offended me.

But in all seriousness, no. No way.

Level designs were HORRID. You just run, stop, shoot, occasionally fall off a clif, and that's it. It is a mindless hunt for 5 something-rathers or Kill all of (insert enemy here). The levels are so bland its rediculous.

The shooting mehcanics are horribly broken. Hell the running mechanics are seriously broken. Try making a turn at anywhere near fullspeed, and see if you even turn 90 degrees without smacking into something. I dare you.

The Story is REDICULOUS. Shadow is just standing there and suddenly Meteor Aliens drop out of the sky, Shadow is immortal, the eclipse canon was made to kill the black comet...everything is horrible. And Black Doom is the worst Sonic character EVER. And he needed the Chaos Emeralds to teleport that lob of shit he calls the Blck Comet down to Earth, to harvest the humans? WTF

The textures are horrible, there is slowdown everywhere on all 3 version (ESPECIALLY PS2), god everything. Level design, graphics...everything is either bland, broken, or rediculous. Shadow is the worst game in the series if you ask me.

Replay value is the only thing it has going for it, and that's if you really want to bother to beat the game 10 different times. Sure, there are different levels each time, but half of them are rehashes of earlier ones, or use the same textures. and even then, ALL of their designs are horrible, and they all feel the same. the missions are always the same, just with different objects/people. Hell, the SA2 levels you revisit look worse then they did in SA2. A dreamcast game. Its been seven years. That is rediculous.

Shadow the Hedgehog is the epitomy of the Anti-Sonic. Of course, that's just my opinion.

And, Shade, you're so right, it's not even funny.
The level design was, LACKING, at best...
But most of all, the BLAND part. The colors were bland, always so dull, the fighting was bland, and seeing as how it was mainly a fighting game... ...Erm, yeah. About the only good thing was 2-P mode (HELLA GOOD!) and some of the songs. Other songs absolutely sucked, and also, not the worst Sonic game in my opinion, I think Sonic Spinball, then Sonic 3-D Blast, beats that, but yeah, Shadow The Hedgehog, is VERY low on the list. The Game Gear games were better. :disgust:

Can I get some screens of the revisited levels compared to the originals? I'd imagine they'd just snag the level data from SA2B (at least for the GCN version...), which would pretty much blow that claim out of the water, but I could be wrong.

The art was taken from SA2:B, however, the anti-aliasing looks horrid in comparison, as do almost all of the rest of the graphics in general.

The first small portion of Final Chase is intact in one of the levels, The ARK, I believe. A short platform with an Artificial Chaos, a springboard leading to a higher platform in front of it, a 90? turn to the right, followed by a very steep incline, ending in a third small platform. Which contains another Black Hawk, so you can progress through outer space over the now destroyed Final Chase. Cute.

  20. You can't steal from your own game. That would be re-using, at worst.
