Wouldn't it be SIX? I'm pretty sure Shadow's game started out as Sonic Adventure 3 as well... I at least remember one magazine titling the game as "Sonic Adventure 3: Shadow the Hedgehog". Maybe it wasn't a credible source, though...

 

Every Sonic game for the past 18 years has secretly been a Sonic Adventure game.

 

Glad to hear Crush 40 is gonna be more involved again. I missed having a catchy, cheesy theme from them ever since Black Knight.

No one here as actually come out and said they think that they really do believe it's SA3. It just seems strange that there are some Adventure-centric things happening for the franchise this year, as opposed to things celebrating the franchise as a whole.

 

I really wouldn't read too much more into it. Crush 40 doing Adventure specific stuff is really not a shock considering their core involvement are... the Adventure games, Heroes, and Shadow (Adventure 2.5.) Outside of that, they either only did openings or endings, or penned themes and offloaded them to other bands to do.

 

GeneHF, all the games you mentions they only do opening or endings for (Adventure 1, Open Your Heart) (Adventure 2, Live and Learn) (Heroes, Sonic Heroes and What I'm Made Of) (Shadow, I Am and Never Turn Back)
In fact, they only did one song for each Adventure title. Of course, Jun as always was a composer, but then that's just Jun.

I like how everyone here is taking "maybe" as yes. I'm always inclined to believe that "maybe" more often than not means no.

And I hope that they aren't doing anything significant for the 25th. We moved away from that style of music and IMO the series has been far better off without it. Keep the butt rock in the 1998 to 2005 era.

 

Everything is far too vague at this point. People are reading into nothing. The Classic merchandise is probably a clue of what's still to come , but the rest is just clutching at straws. I'm expecting something to surprise us anyway. Classic Sonic coming a cropper in that first Generations teaser was the best surprise many of us could have asked for in 2011. I really hope there's going to be a fun twist again this time.

At this point they've probably already written the music, and the "maybe" refers to whether or not it actually gets included in the game.

 

This is true, but for all we know Sega could have told them in this instance to say maybe so as to indicate absolutely nothing about the game in development.

Basically, it's a maybe. It could mean yes or no. That's the definition of the word maybe. Why are we reading into this.

 

I think it's just something as simple as Sega asking them to produce music for the game and that still being up in the air what with the game we're anticipating not likely to be announced until the Spring and then not likely to be out until Holiday 2016 Generations style and then them just not really being able nor allowed to talk about something connected to an unannounced game - hence the backtracking and denials to save face. It's nothing to even read in to. They've just been considered as the musicians for some of the tracks in the game. The game's still in active development so no firm decisions have been made yet and everything's in active communication and on-going negotiations.

I'm loving how news is finally starting to arrive now. It's going to be an exciting few months in the run-up to this game or games being formally announced.

 

The game is going to be out in less than a year if it won't be delayed, it'd be really concerning if they didn't make firm decisions about most of the game at this point.
