    Nothing that concerns this place in the least.
    Sonic R actually DID have a storyline, if you check the manual. The only thing missing was dialogue and cutscenes.

    Sonic R was awesome... I think it had to have been one of the best 3D Sonic games, simply because it replicated the classic gameplay nearly flawlessly. The physics... the speed... I only wish the game was longer. 5 levels is an insult to an engine that could handle so much more.

    ^I actually thought Sonic R was great, but all too slow. If they were to have made Sonic R on the Dreamcast and not on the Saturn, it would've been perfect - not only graphically, but I think the Dreamcast would have been able to handle a better engine and make for faster gameplay. Another pro of developing Sonic R on the Dreamcast would've been online play, but that was also possible on the Saturn - not enough developers took advantage of NetLink. I was fortunate enough to play both Saturn Bomberman and VirtualOn over NetLink, and it worked pretty well for what it was.

    Sonic R would've been very interesting over NetLink.

    It was available as a patch from the Sega PC website. It's long gone now, I'm sure.

    And pfft, I gave you that PC version. =P

    The only thing wrong with Sonic R was that the turning was so awkward. Other than that, it was defiantly the best 3D game, next to SA1.

    Sonic R had the best models in the pre-rendered title screen ever

    Patches are like ROM hacks, only official. That doesn't count.

    That and it was a port. If someone were to homebrew a remake of Sonic R on PC with awesome graphics, good speed, good control, (maybe) cutscenes, and online play, it'd be better than SA1. By leaps and bounds.

    I agree with you. If someone could do it, I like Sonic R more than I do now.

    If I had the online mod, I couldn't do it anyway. My grampa's XP stopped playing it last year, my 98 won't play it at all, and my 95 plays it, but it runs like shit. (My gramps gave me his 95 when he got XP.(I'm refering to the different Windows OS's))

    Sonic R already has awesome graphics, good speed, near perfect control, online play, and doesn't need cutscenes

    I indeed did enjoy Sonic R. Not sure if it would run on this computer, but if it does, I may hunt down that patch. That's too good to pass up, even if I do probably suck at the game. =P

    I was thinking about a homebrew console port, (like with Taxman's Retro-Sonic) but it's kinda pointless because R is on Gems Colection. (By the way, why the hell do the Japs and Euros get more games and a PS2 version? I know SEGA nixed the games to keep a E rating, but why did the nix a PS2 version here in the US?! Ok, I'm done ranting now.)

    Plus I think I lead everyone off-topic. For the record before we get back on-topic, I'd like to say that I also like Sonic Riders and I hate Shadow the Hedgehog.

    Coming to grips with the fact that I've almost been here 20 years
    <?php
    if ( $Sonic R == Good graphics) {
    echo "Win!";
    } else {
    echo "Been there, done that";
    }
    ?>

    That is all. (I may have made syntax errors, but whatever :P)

    As usual, rika_chou beats everyone in the topic for getting to the point and expressing the truth in a blatiant, matter-of-factly manner.

    I almost never disagree, and when I do, I find I don't care-I respect her opinion greatly.

    I had to say that at some point.

    Anyways, I totally agree. Next to Sonic JAM's 3D world, which was practically the same engine in appearence-I loved the great graphics, and the amazing gameplay.

    Yeah, the controls had simple issues-but they worked well for their purpose.

    Great work. Great.

    Sonic R was a great game. I actually loved the soundtrack. The problem was that it was too short and once you find everything, the only thing you can do is try to beat your old times, which gets old really fast.

    I'd give it a 7.5/10, mainly because it's so short.

    BEWARE THE TAILS DOLL CURSE!!

    From an objective standpoint, Sonic R really was just slightly above passable, at best. However, that doesn't stop me from loving the hell out of it. There is much fun and warm fuzzy feelings to be had out of that game.

    Plus the graphics rocked.

    Sonic R and NiGHTS were very alike. Both had awesome graphics for the time, control was really good, they were both very enjoyable and both had awesome music, but they both suffered for one reason. They were both too damn short. It seems Sonic Team give their worst creations more love than their best work. They should have stuck to a winning formula and made more Sonic R and NiGHTS games while they had it done to perfection. Instead they go and say "Sequels will just ruin it. We got it right first time". Simple solution to that problem. Leave the fucking game engine alone and just give us new levels. Seriously, they need to realise which games were actually good out of everything they've done and need to work on getting games back to that standard.
