Oh hell yes. I've forgone most of Jazware's stuff that isn't the giant figures or Classic Sonic, but this has got my interest.
I can't wait for that set, but I'm looking forward to the 5" Black Knight figures even more: Shadow/Lancelot and Excalibur Sonic are out now. Gawain/Knuckles, Lamorak/Jet and Galahad/Silver are due out pretty soon too. Shame there's no Percival/Blaze though. It's a really, really random choice of figures to bring out nearly four years after Black Knight was released, but I'm not about to complain. The designs are lovely.
Jeez, Sonic Heroes and Sonic and the black Knight? Why not just release some toys from Sonic Advance 3 while we're at it. Might as well see a Gemerl figure.
Once again, I realize I'm more into figures without a lot of noticeable joints. Charmy / Vector look great, but I can't dig that Ezio. I also really like the Black Knight figures, joints really make sense for those. Don't know about Shadow, but I can definitely see myself picking up Excalibur Sonic someday.
Yeah, Espio looks especially roid-ed up, but I'd put up with it for Vector and Charmy. Charmy looks like he doesn't have any joints as he's so small, and Vector's fine since he's one of the only Sonic characters with even a hint of having actual elbows and not just pool noodles for arms. Black Knight seems like a baffling choice, not because the designs aren't interesting (they are), but because the game didn't sell well and got critically lambasted. I'd guess it's Jazware's way of approaching how other companies can do ludicrous things with their toylines to sell the same figure twice, like Batman with a chainsaw, but I'd think sculpting that Knight armor was probably expensive (and this coming from the guys who Sega wouldn't allow to slap black and yellow paint on Metal Sonic and sell as a new toy).
Okay, I knew about Excalibur Sonic from a different topic, but now Shadow, Knuckles, Jet, and Silver too? Well, if there was ever a time for me to own a complete set of Sonic merchandise, I think now is the time.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY it's gonna be impossible for me to get it asdhghaghaghagahaghgah PS: I love it T____T
That Team Chaotix set is just a repackaged Espio/Vector two pack with Espio's weapon and Vector's walkie talkie thrown in as well as a new Charmy figure. I'll never get over how Jazware's milks the hell out of their molds. They've repackaged that same 6" Sonic figure at least a dozen times. I have three of them hanging on the wall in my son's room.
Oh, that's nothing compared to how many times the 3" Sonic has been repackaged and re-released with other figures in comic packs. And yet, Metal Sonic and Amy remain painfully rare.
This is really disappointing. Why can't they get the lead out and release Robotnik, or even Amy Rose? I won't even purchase Shadow for the sake of a complete set. I assume that unlike most people, I am actually nerdy enough to decorate my home with my Sonic stuff, rather than just leaving them in an enclosed display. I would rather commit hara-kiri than have to look at that recoloured turd.
I'm hoping they get around to making Classic Amy and Eggman eventually. They still have the license to carry on making the Classic cast at any rate. Amy just probably won't be as popular as the others, and Eggman will have to be about 22 inches (just under 2 feet) to scale with the others, which would no doubt be really, really expensive. I'd still want and buy it though, just as with Shadow. He looks awesome. Here's hoping they make Rouge too.
I'm gonna second the fact that Shadow is a disappointing choice of character - the most boring, overrated fucking character in the entire franchise as far as I'm concerned. Obviously it was going to happen eventually, but still, I could think of many better characters to continue the modern line of statues with :/ I'm very much looking forward to seeing more classic statues eventually. I have Tails on preorder already. I really hope we see Robotnik one day - I don't care if it'd have to be way larger and more expensive than the others, I'd still get it =P
Wow that shirt is like everything I hate about the "trendy nerd" fad. Sonic was never an 8-bit character. He had some 8-bit games, but he was primarily known for his 16-bit games. This bothers me almost as much as when people refer to pixel art as 8-bit graphics. "OH BOY I LOVE THE 8-BIT GRAPHICS IN THAT SCOTT PILGRIM GAME"
Amen to that. Why not try these much more interesting shirts instead? They're on the European Sonic Merchandise site. EDIT: USA one too now.
Now that's a T-shirt design I would pay extra for! They look like something exclusive and officially licensed, like an import from Japan or something.
I received a fantastic book for Christmas called 'The History Of Sonic The Hedgehog' by Pix'N Love Editions/Udon. You can pick it up for £49.99 from Forbidden Planet in the U.K. or from around £30 on Amazon.com. Its 300 pages go through absolutely everything from the initial ideas behind Sonic's design to the complex seven layer graphics of the Green Hill Zone when it was promoted at the Consumer Electronics Show in 1991.
