Kind of have two minds about that. One one hand, always nice to see more LBGT characters in comics and stuff. On the other, it was handled so amazingly poorly....

 

That's what I'm thinking really. Yes, it's great to have diversity in things like comic books and movies and what not. But it's just such an unimportant element in the Sonic series. I mean, I'm bi myself so yay diversity but yea I don't really want to see any of that thrown in a Sonic comic as I don't really like seeing any of them in relationships. I mean this kinda says it all.

 

Not only that, but it was so out of left field to begin with. "Yeah, you know the character you've seen in here for over a decade? He likes cock. Did we forget to mention that?"

 

Kind of reminds me when the creator of Gargoyles decided that Lexington should be gay in the comics, but I'm sure it was handled better.

 

Difference there is Ken didn't even create Rotor. He's all about the original creator having the final say in what happens to characters when it's the ones he made, but when he's using other people's characters he seems to forget that, especially when those big evil corporations he seems to hate own them.

 

Not to mention his reasoning behind making Rotor gay was because he wanted to explain why Rotor was shy and not socially adept like the others. Because only gay people are shy around others, amirite? Unfortunate implications, ahoy!

 

I have a feeling that you can fill the Library of Congress with things that Ken Penders doesn't know about gay people.

Literally my immediate reaction was to come to Retro just to see what everyone has to say. I haven't really kept up with this and now I think I should, this is great.

 

She looks like a really bad SecondLife or IMVU character.

I physically froze when I saw that. I feel like this artwork must be mined for all the comedic value it's worth, though I am currently tired and have no idea what form that will take. But it must happen.

So. Apparently, among others, the artist of this thing actually offered to let Ken use the design free of charge. He shot her down, probably embarrassed that someone was able to make something that actually looks more like an actual echidna than he ever could.

... You think she would let Strife use it? This sort of design would look amazing in a sequel to Freedom Planet.

 

His script I can believe is real. The art from a while back I could believe was real. I can even believe that he really thinks he was the most important thing to the comic ever.

This? This has to be trolling. There's no fucking way it isn't. He's just messing with us now.

 

This whole saga is something to behold. Fuck I feel bad about Archie's entire comic continuity being ruined and I'm not thrilled with some sleazeball hack getting away with all the bullshit he caused. But this here. This shit? This is a fucking exquisite trainwreck unfolding in slow motion. And I've got front row seats.
