As previously mentioned, characters created for the comic are owned by Sega. I mean, otherwise sega would own every character that graced the pages of Sonic, like The Maxx or Leo from VGCats.

 

Their appearance in <a href="http://info.sonicretro.org/Bonus_Stage_(Sonic_Spinball_16-bit)" target="_blank">Sonic Spinball's Bonus Stage</a> would be evidence of this.

 

All of the characters in Spinball were either originated from SatAm or AoSth.

 

Those weren't exclusive to the coming then... Wait, wasn't everyone talking about the characters Ken and others created? I thought it was common knowledge the SatAM cast was owned by SEGA?

Wow. That's... a failure waiting to happen. But Sega and EA? It looks like this is a totally different legal issue than the copywriting all the characters thing. Since EA is involved, he seems to be pointed specifically at the whole Sonic Chronicles thing.

Okay, so the Nocturnus bear a passing resemblance to the Dark Legion, Shade bears a passing resemblance to Julie-Su and the Twilight Cage bears a passing resemblance to the Twilight Zone that the Legion was trapped in, but that's about it. I highly doubt he can sue on that, considering they're plenty far apart enough to not warrant plagiarism.

If Sonic Chronicles was ever going to get a sequel, this would be the final nail in the coffin against it. :specialed:

What, I don't even... Seriously Penders needs to just stop this shit because if his career was already bad enough to warrant his last bit of stupidity, I can't imagine how bad his career will be after this. I know if I owned a comic company I would never let a guy like him work for me and I would be certain to spread the word like a plague.

 

In Mr. Penders' latest escapade, he's decided to ignore the whole copyright thing entirely and announce the upcoming release of a graphic novel to continue his Echidna stories. And he implies Knuckles will be in it even though he'll have absolutely no chance of using him even if he somehow wins his legal battles.

That Lara-Su art doesn't even look anything like he used to draw her at all.

And it turns out that the reply button actually disappears on his forum when I'm logged in. The hell? Did he screw up member permissions, or did I get banned somehow? Is anyone else able to post, or is it just me?

It just occurred to me that Ken Penders and Christian Chandler have an awful lot in common.

 

This is what I immediately thought of after looking at that drawing.

 

No seriously, what is this guy's deal? Is he so stunted creatively that he needs to desperately cling to something, that he based on already existing material almost a decade ago, just to sell paper? Can't he just..I dunno, make new characters and stories?

Suppose the answer is obvious, but still, amazes me how tenacious he's being about all this.
