1. Ok, I'm not completely sure where this should go, but could someone please like-- give me a walkthrough on how to use this and possibly the SonED programs as well? I have a project I am trying to start, but these programs are just too confusing to me.

Please and Thank you.

Well, first off for SonMapED... Which Sonic game are you trying to hack? Sonic 1 or 2? Or... Sonic 3k... It would help if you tell us what your trying to edit... Sonic's art? Badnik's art? Please be more specific... -_-'

As for SonED... Are you using SonED or SonED2? And what game? Again, please be more specific... If you plan to work with SonED... You edit level layouts with Save-States... But if you use SonED2, you edit them with project files which is much easier in my opinion... But that's only for Sonic 1 and 2... You also have to download the Sonic 1 or Sonic 2 dissembly and the Sonic ROM you want to hack... To use either SonMapED or SonED... And, like Tweaker said... Use the Wiki... It helps a shit load. =P

4. Sonic 1 is the ROM I'm trying to hack. I am trying to remove Sonic so I can replace him with another character.

I have both SonED and SonED2. Again, Sonic 1.

Alright, Well for the SonMapED part. Start here:
SCHG How-to:Use SonMapEd/Part 1 and go on from there...

For SonED2, because mostly everyone uses SonED2 now. (And because I find it to be much easier and better...)
Go here. (A video, to make it much easier for you...)

After you set up the disassembly... This part is totally optional...
Anyway, I would convert the disassembly to ASM68K... Why? Because simply because it's a better, faster assembler! =P

So, if you want to do that go here: SCHG How-to:Convert the Hivebrain 2005 disassembly to ASM68K

And that's pretty much it... Enjoy Sonic Hacking... But next time you should post your questions here. ;)

Edit: Also, a bit off topic but what character are you planning to do?
