It's not really bitching though... it's something that's freaking awesome!

Yes but you didn't play either yet =P
Also, Rob came home today with a gift from his work. A $50 gift certificate from Target. May as well put it to good use.

BTW how does that ranking work exactly?... I see that Unleashed has a score of 7.2 from the users but the other games on that list have a higher score... is it based on what scores it received just yesterday?

Being Popular on Gamespot probably entails nothing more than discussion and how many people are visiting a game page.

Which means there are a lot of people reading that 3.5 review, for one reason or another.

I showed Sonic 360 to my friend last night and he thought it was awesome. He's a completely casual gamer. He wants to pick it up now.

Yeah, the release date got bumped back to December 9th, meaning tomorrow.

    Meaning the day after tomorrow.

Lots of places got the 360 version in early, like the GameStop where I got my copy a few days in advance. Something similar could happen to the PS3 version. You might check around tomorrow.

Did anyone like the Werehog levels? I still haven't played the game, but I haven't heard anyone truly like the Werehog levels.

  10. I don't mind them, I certainly don't hate them.

If the QTEs were removed I'd have no problems with this game.

Though, Sega really needs to figure out how to pace Sonic games into one similar playstyle, instead of 2-5 styles they have had for all of the games now (Don't say Shadow).

Werehog is better then any other "not Sonic" gameplay that I've had (Besides Tails on SA1, which was basically Sonic gameplay with a tiny twist).

That said, the levels are quite long if you make them long, I've got 6 minutes on the first stage, and under 20 in all of the others, but first time plays can lead up to 30+ minutes if you continue to make mistakes, which is common for anyone. :(

At the very least the QTEs shouldn't send you to your death. That's what bugged me the most.

I'm going to be honest here, and say that the one thing I would remove from Sonic Unleashed is the Boost. Especially the fucking Air Boost. Who's smart idea was it to move the Homing attack to the X button (which is fine, up until you find the Air Boost) ? I mean, it's not exactly like A + A does anything else.

But yeah, anyway, my point is all too often I go to homing attack some enemy, and find myself boosting right off the stage (Adabat mainly), or I'm running around 2d, get thrown in the air, think it would be good to get a little forward momentum going only to find out that I just boosted past the spring I needed to continue and fell to my death.

There's really not much point in the Sonic Boost other than to show off some insane speed, but I feel it can hinder more than compliment the gameplay.

Yes, I would prefer the spin-dash or super-peel-out really. Rolling would be nice too. Imagine if all the shields from S3K came back. I have not seen one normal shield in Unleashed.

Speaking of release dates back up the page: This applies to the U.S.? In that case I'll check around. I'm surprised the PS3 demo has not come out yet.

This was actually IMPROVED in Unleashed compared to past games because there's a lock-on reticule now so you know when hitting X won't send you to your death. If you don't take advantage of that it's your own fault.

Also, only use the regular boost when you can see what's ahead of you (or if you have the level memorized :() . It's not a gas pedal, you don't have to keep it held down. If you need to "get a little forward momentum going" just tap it.

Today Sega of America kindly emailed me an ad for Sonic Unleashed, so I had to Rick Roll them back.

I suppose I wasn't clear enough, but what I meant was even with the reticule showing up, sometimes if you're holding the analogue stick in a direction (as you're moving in the air), it'll disappear just as you tap x, sending you into a boost.

Very rarely can you see what's ahead of you in the game, it goes by so fast. Other than the Mini-boss sections and some straights. It's one of the main mechanics of the gameplay, yet the game penalizes me for using it when I feel it's natural to Boost. Unless it's you're second/third playthrough of the level, when you can boost is alot like a guessing game. I never had that problem in the Rush games.

I'm sounding very negative here, fact is, I love the game. This is the first Sonic where I actually want to fully complete it (S Ranks and all) just because it's fun. I've fully completed Apatos (S Ranks, Medals, Hotdogs, Town Missions), and can't wait to start perfecting Mazuri.

Second here (SA2B was the first for me, but I gave up trying after a while of consistently not beating my records =P). Though this is the one place where it helps to somewhat suck at the game like I do - you don't get all the best records on your first or second try so you play it more. =D
