Now that's a load of crap. If Sonic Unleashed wasn't a Sonic game, or if it was some speedy new platforming mascot that could transform into a werewolf, you would be saying something along the lines of, "Now why can't Sonic Team make a Sonic game like this? Man, if only this was a Sonic game; we wouldn't even mind the werewolf." I don't intend to scream bias, but if that's not hypocrisy then I don't know what is.

And how is the combat "not interesting"? There are several movesets and you can level up the Werehog as you go. What more could they have done?

Ars Technica? I could throw in a butt joke to play on the site's name, but I'm sure you have already drawn the connection.

    Huh?
Why didn't they make these normal acts, the game would have been more fun if they had done that.
Anyway, I collected some of those keys for the extra missions, I just never did them.

...no? I guess there's a passing similarity, but it doesn't seem to me like they are the same tune at all.

I see the similarity. Sonic is whistling the World map theme, but perhaps the song is based off Angel Island.

OMG I got one of those keys and I didn't know what it was. I just hit X quickly thinking it was just saying "You got an item" and I was like... wait was that a key? What does it do? AWESOME!

I can't wait to try these out. And thanks for the tip on extra lives.

Wow, glad to see all the positive reviews. I was almost afraid to peek in here, but I have to admit a lot of these daytime levels just leave me smiling.

Haven't had that since Sonic Adventure and Sonic 3.

To me, Sonic Unleashed looks like the first Sonic game in ages that appears to be almost pure fun to play, instead of a mix of fun and a chore. And the day levels on both version are exactly what I've been wishing for a long time in a Sonic game: lots of running, grinding and jumping at high speed but with very little possibilities of dashing into a pit or doing a homing attack that goes way off course, like all those other times in SA and SA2 where the fun would often come to an end for stupid reasons like bugs or a faulty camera.

I have a rather different question for those who have seen and/or played both the Wii/PS2 and 360/PS3 versions of the final boss[es]. How do the two versions of these stack up against each other gameplay-wise? Is either version of it particularly dull or exciting? We've had people touch on the differences between the two versions overall, but I haven't really seen anything said on the final boss gameplay apart from the spoilerific Wii strategy guide scans.

Would you care to watch a vid of the final boss for Wii?

Oh, yeah, I've seen that Wii final boss video. Actually, it was why I asked in the first place. There don't seem to be any 360/PS3 final boss videos around to compare it with, unless I just suck at searching.

  16. I love how the results screen music is shitty when you get an E rank. It's like a middle school band, only half of them have little to no experience.

    Try this then

EDIT: actually let me comment on this.

It\'s about damn time they made a Super fight that was better than Perfect Chaos. A tag team fight no less! Good to see some demonstration of Super Sonic\'s speed.

Though after three fights of losing Rings on contact, can we make a note for the record books he\'s no invincible anymore?

Wow, the Super Sonic battle on the Wii looks a lot more fun than the one on the 360 version. Or at least not constantly hitting you from nowhere.

The Final Boss on the 360 version is easily the worst part of the game (Aside from the first part of Eggman land, it was the only part I didn't enjoy).

For some reason, the game didn't give me a grade for dark Gaia when I beat it. Do you need to start it from the world map?

I thought it would at lease be better than the Gaia Colossus, but they're about the same (SUPER SONIC IS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE A LIFE BAR!!!).

Also, Super Sonic can paraloop. It doesn't seem to do anything though

Someone needs to set the cinematic of the Gaia Colossus forming to "Go Go Power Rangers"

Hopefully the new Sonic Team can avoid serious business from nowhere in the future. They explained way too much about the chaos emeralds.

    Ah, this helps.

Well, the two versions of the final boss certainly are very different. The only thing really consistant about them is
that Super Sonic seems incredibly slow in the sections where he flies toward Dark Gaia in both.
It'll be interesting to see which of the two more people end up enjoying the most. Although the Wii/PS2 final boss looks a bit better to me, I think it'll be best to wait until playing before actually deciding.

Huh. And, wouldn't you know it, after refreshing the page just now, there are already two posts with different opinions on how good the 360/PS3 version is.
