I stated why i did choose my avatar and the genuine reasoning, Mufasa himself wouldn't accuse me of lying -he kept trusting Scar to the end after all-, You should strive to be like Mufasa and be better.

Now doing it out of spite aren't way, and here i thought it was a genuine gesture from you for the king of box office -not even top 5 of it's year btw, what a king-

but don't worry to make sure i am genuine in my intentions i would put my caption as an iconic line from the Lion King franchise cause i am happy it's doing well right now.

I changed it because someone asked me to but I don't really see a need to actually and never did. I was talking about Disney as a whole when I called them Box Office King btw.

All I ask from specifically is to stop derailing my posts because I call the Sonic movies children films. You never even talked about my main point which was genuine curiosity on what they can do to make the audience grow.

    Thank you.

Being so dedicated to a point while ignoring any evidence against it is always so strange to me.

You were given real statistics about how roughly 60% of movie-goers that went to see Sonic 3 were adults and you still argue it only attracted kids and is a "childish movie". The latter is an opinion, cool.

Nobody is stopping you from loving Mufasa. You can celebrate its success, but what I don't get is the insistance on basically pushing others to love it and say how much better it is in every way (which clearly is your unspoken goal at this point in my eyes) via incorrect and selective data.

Yoooo we're talking about missing opening weekends?

The movie, a prequel to director Jon Favreau’s 2019 photorealistic “The Lion King” remake, powered to $87.2 million overseas and $122 million globally. While those ticket sales were enough to top the worldwide box office charts, the film landed far behind pre-release expectations of $130 million overseas and $180 million globally. “Mufasa” also missed projections in North America, debuting to just $35 million

    Variety

Funny how this is never brought up on here but Sonic always is.

Once again nowhere in my post did I bring up opening weekend until someone else posted it. I was talking about the sonic movies on their own and was curious why the audience isn't growing by big amounts. On its own.

With Sonic I brought it up, after someone else mentioned it, because a movie being off 25% from initial predictions isn't normal and the movies box office slowed considerably after opening weekend.

This is indicative of a fanrush and if a lot of adults went to see Sonic that just shows there are a lot of adult Sonic fans that are very dedicated to the franchise (which we know to be true).

I just quoted the post that started this argument i didn't ask for. I brought up Mufasa because I'm genuinely curious how the movie eclipsed Sonic so much. I genuinely think Sonic was the better film.

I wasn't trying to start an argument. Just a genuine discussion on if 450 to 500 million is Sonic's cap and if that could ever change.

Me addressing it's not a children movie so it can't be the reason for growth or decline IS me addressing the point, how it can grow it's audience more? through keeping consistent quality and growing out organically like they already doing and in general doing what the audience wants, it's what's other successful movies franchises are doing.

    ok, there:

    Now apologize.

Aside from your actual mention of Mufasa in these recent posts, It's context – your prior posts, even your avatar and title.

It feels like such a textbook bad faith argument: make a big deal out of one topic and then essentially bring it up again under the guise of another one (e. g. the growth of the Sonic movies).

It's really difficult for me to separate it from anything you're saying because that's what it always seems to come down to with any arguments you start since I joined these forums, even.

You can say all you want about liking Sonic 3 better or whatever or loving Sonic Adventure 2, but implications still always tell me you just want to prove how much better Disney and Mufasa are/are doing because they're "less childish" or how animated movies "do better".

You'd be shocked how normalized it's become for people to not be able to spot pattern recognition.

Guess it was fine to called Delulu, "The man with all the facts and none of the facts", a liar, a smart ass, a...terrorist..., and so many various other things over this topic but silly me I guess it's just been me the entire time.

My desire for Sonic to do great is genuine. I want every movie to find an audience. You can believe that or not but that's how I feel.

Some of that feels very extreme, but you come across as essentially covering your ears to any info that might challenge your perspective.

Even just deciding to suddenly not read someone's posts tells me you simply don't want to acknowledge that perspective because it might go against the narrative you want to push.

I personally think 300mil to 400mil is a pretty solid jump and the consistency from 2 to 3 when 1 and 2 apparently didn't have as much higher profile competition feels like steady growth.

1- as of writing this post, you didn’t change that quote.
2- you challenged the notion that you started this conversation by saying “no i didn’t actually mention Mufasa, show me where i mentioned it and i apologize”, while proceeding to actually quote where you DID mention it when no else did today, which is crazy enough , but now pretending that editing the original post to not mention it making it suddenly okay is insane, you are not changing the past here.

Edit: i was actually thinking of a different quote entirely, i do apologize.

3- you promised that if someone pointed out to where you mentioned Mufasa you would apologize for the whole thing, you didn’t, keeping a man’s word is tough i guess.
4-If you are really done reading anything i write then just do it and don’t read and don’t quote me, ez enough, instead of repeating the same thing every single time, if it’s too much you can always click the ignore button which will make me invisible to you and you would be really done with anything i write.

No I didn't want to have the same argument I've been having with the same person I have had since May and has directly antagonized me in the past and right now

Won't disagree with you there. It's good the audience is growing.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    Cool, then.

Regarding Sonic's popularity (which I also saw brought up in another thread), an anecdote:

I live in an area that often doesn't even get more popular media and I have been really surprised to see kids having merch or even seeing fast food collaborations. It felt surreal because up until these past few years, for about a 20+ year break, there was nothing.

Majority of the time I was a fan as a kid, I didn't see anything Sonic-related around because my fandom fell on to the 2000s-2010s, past the golden age, before this new age.

I think I even heard people play the mobile games and it was such a wierd moment because suddenly this series is popular again?

I kind of regret not getting the Sonic movie fast food collab I saw just for nostalgia, but at that time I just had left the series behind and even if I heard about the redo, the movies still didn't really interest me because the designs still had a lil bit of that uncanney valley element and I don't have particularly high opinions of live action adaptions, especially ones that involve characters that clearly feel like they're created for pure animation.

I do a double take everytime I see someone that could be my grandma point to a Sonic toy in the kids aisle and say something like "look it's Sonic!" to their grand kid in spanish. And that has happened multiple times.
