Sonic the Hedgehog Cinematic Universe Thread (& Knuckles)

I always forget that classic eggman logo even exists. The one they use nowadays with the goggles is a lot simpler and a lot more iconic to boot, I'm surprised it made it's way into sonic 1 given he still had the goggles there (even if he wasnt bald quite yet)

 

More projections have popped up in San Francisco, California, 2 locations in Los Angeles, California, and Dallas, Texas.

 

All the concerns for previous months, and now we have some global marketing for just a trailer, you love to see it

 

So the text was too washed out before, (possibly intentionally) but Paramount Australia posted a video on Instagram with these projections clearly saying TOMORROW

Get a spare pair of pants Shadbros.

 

This was a really cool way to promote the trailer!

Do we know if images are typically projected onto the sides of any of those buildings, or did Paramount specifically set up projectors to promo Sonic Movie 3? If ads aren't typically projected there, then this might grab the attention of more eyeballs than usual.

(Obviously I know the Tokyo location is a pre-existing screen used for billboard ads)

It would've been genius if they had a projection of Eggman proclaiming he would piss on the moon release the trailer in 24 hours

Now before the trailer comes out, there's a story rumour I've been hearing that if true, is gonna hit me in the feels bad.

The first thing Shadow does when released is to search for Maria, and rampages through Tokyo to find her, before learning about what actually happened to her.

 

Could it actually be a Sonic Tuesday?

 

Sonic... Threesday.... Yeah.

 

I'm actually quite nervous/anticipated as to what we'll see here. I think by now we know that it definitely won't be a 1:1 adaptation of SA2 (the name Sonic X Shadow: Tokyo Mission makes that clear). I feel like we'll see some creative choices what aren't what we'll expect, but at the same time some things that might surprise us.

Their take on Shadow will be unique to anything we've seen before, as is with the movie franchise, but of course it will still be better than what we've seen from the games for the last decade. My guess is that we'll see a much more emotional Shadow, not as constantly brooding as SA2, but still focused on achieving "his" goal of revenge on humanity. I honestly don't know how they'll handle Gerald or Maria, but I think it will stay closer to the source material compared to say, Knuckles' backstory in the second movie.

Is anyone else emotional right now with the state of the Sonic franchise?

As someone that's been with the franchise since 1992, I never would imagine we'd go from the days of Sonic 06 to this. A projection of Sonic and crew throughout the world all for a trailer. A series of successful movies, the games are mostly exciting again (need Mania 2), the comics are great again, it's just nuts to see. I hope this continues.

 

I agree, as a kid who grew up in the late 2000's to 2010's, Sonic felt like an extremely niche series confined to the internet. It felt special to me. And now I see Sonic's face everywhere, on TV, at work, out in public. It feels crazy seeing the world become fans of what I grew up on. I bet my mom's eyes are rolling insanely hard at my step brothers excitement for Sonic 3, she hated how obsessed I was with Sonic as a kid (Possibly because merch was impossible to find and costed $30 for a graphic T that'd last a year)

 

It's leaked and it's doing the rounds on Twitter. I'm not on Twitter personally, but if you're desperate I'm sure you can find a crusty upload without much effort.

 

I saw the leak by complete accident and I barely even care about this thing.
