Very disappointing, fighting games do it all the time but i guess its a cost cutting measure. That link is dead, did it specify between the free dlc and the collab/season pass?

Oh, so that's why they're okay with putting IDW characters in. Of course, how silly of me to not recognize.

Guess it makes sense there's no interactions between franchises if they're gonna shove Minecraft in at all... but I don't understand why they wouldn't at least use archival audio even if it's only for stuff they control. At least the context makes it read like all the characters will be mute.

Really hoping the free DLC is exempt from this if it’s true. Even besides the interactions you’d expect, seeing Ichiban react to all these mutant animals would be funny.

I apologize for my previous comparison. Even before this reply I thought maybe this was a distasteful thing to say.

But getting to my main point, wanting better things is not the issue. I would like better designs, I criticized this game's visuals earlier, it's extremely underwhelming.
However I don't think obsessing over small design details is critical thinking or constructive criticism.

    • Banned from this thread for a week, sorry.
Maybe it's time you need to admit you are wrong. EA and Codemasters put far more effort in their Need for Speed and GRID games for a single player game with a storyline, not that anyone cares for that or loves the recent NFS games and most want the games to go back to their true racing roots, because that's what makes or breaks a racing game isn't a silly story, but how much fun the game is to race around the track.

How is posting a real example rage baiting? You just have a look at how much most retail is asking for Sonic Racing Crossworlds and its coming in at the same sort of price that most modern-day racers are priced at, regardless ... if they have a storyline or more content than its rival and when one factors in modern day pricing and inflation, its still cheaper than Mega Drive and Snes titles, How people forget that Soinc 3 came in at $70 with half its content cut, which in today's world would over a 100 bucks.
I'm simply saying it doesn't have a proper single-player storyline with proper progression. Zero Wing on the Mega Drive, as some text/dialog and some cut scenes, but I wouldn't look to class that as a proper single player story driven game and will judge it far more as on being a shooter, that's where I'm coming from, maybe I should have made myself more clear on that score, sorry.

Nobody gives a toss if Sonic Racing Crossworlds has a detailed single player story driven mode, its all about how the game handles and its track design, that will make or break the title and even if what you say is true How many people do you know who rather play Sonic Team Racing with its story/dialog, over Sonic Racing Transformed?.

That's my point, it's all about how much fun it is to race and the track design, which will make or break a racing game, be that Sonic or the likes of Need for Speed etc. EA spent a load of time and money on its single player modes for NSR and most people couldn't give a hell about it and wish for the old NSR racing to come back when it was fun to race and you had good track design.

I found Team Sonic Racing to be a massive step backwards from Transformed and while yes, it was only a Beta, Crossworlds in its unfinished state felt a better game and far more fun, with my only issues being that the flight sections felt a little off, otherwise the game was fun and surprisingly looked like a true current gen racing with amazing graphics, rather than a cross gen title

It was really good stuff and it's so nice to read that one of SEGA Japan's old Arcade teams are working on it, because nobody makes a better racer than SEGA Japan's old AM teams.

He didn't say anything about effort. He said the games have stories and structured mission modes.
And I'm simply saying you're wrong. The games have single-player story campaigns. Objectively. I literally just proved it. Why are you still denying this?
Nobody said anything about the games being story-driven or focused on single player. You aren't "unclear", you're making things up.
TSR's core mechanics being a little worse does not have anything to do with whether the game should have a story campaign. I care about the game having single player content, including a story, because it allows me many avenues other than multiplayer to get the most out of those mechanics. This is not about what you think is important.
Good for you! Nobody asked, though. We were talking about the game having single player content, up to and including a single player story campaign. Inserting yourself into that conversation and going "WELL I THINK THE GAME LOOKS GOOD SO EVERYONE ELSE IS STUPID" is not useful to that. Can you please respond to the things that are actually being said to you?

Did they remove the feature which at the last stretch of the race the UI disappears?
    I thought it was cool.

Mate, why you saying sorry? You're here doing the Lord's work lmao.

You know, I always just interpreted that as hiding the players position for the last stretch so that any lag was less obvious when the final results came up on screen. The footage we've been getting lately has all been local play, whereas the beta was all online.

Team Andromeda turns valid criticism and nuanced discussion into complaints of "Sonic Bashing" in the same manner a plant turns water, CO2, and sunlight into sugar and oxygen.

Best to just let him photosynthesize in the corner and go about your business.

Like Kyle Reese told Sarah Connor about the Terminator: "You can't stop him! It's all he does!"

    Back on topic:

Glad they're balancing the items. I didn't get to try the demo, but it looked hectic.

Quite disappointed in the lack of interactions with crossover characters. When I saw how wacky some of the picks were, I was actually excited to hear the characters talk to eachother. Oh well...

Not sure if it's a fix to the game's mixing, or if the songs got a round of polish, but the music is MUCH improved. Is it possible they were purposefully obscuring the music in the initial demo for some reason?

This game is, ultimately, shaping up to be bigger than I was initially expecting, though. Fairly high-effort outing, especially after TSR.

    I'm optimistic.

I wanna kiss the Mod in forehead who did that.

This discussion was being so stupid.

But yeah, Sonic. I have seen some people get confused the DLC characters won't have voicelines and I'm pretty sure that's not the case, lol. I thoght Izuka was pretty clear they mostly won't have interactions.

I think it was worth mentioning that because I've seen people in warzone already because of that.

With games like Mortal Kombat and Guilty gear where characters have unique interactions, even with the new DLC additions, I've wondered how they handled the writing and voice work, especially when they have celebrity voice actors. Do they plan and record ahead of time? Or do they get the voice actors back for another recording session?

Either way, I can imagine that being a major concern when it comes to guest characters voice acting and having unique interactions.

I imagine they do, yes. Of course, in this case, they'll have planned out the whole season pass in one chunk before committing to the work but it may be the case that, while they have a plan for season 2, they want to see how the currently announced DLC performs before committing to another round, at which point it may be more difficult/expensive to bring back the VAs, so they're preemptively forgoing any crossover interactions for consistency's sake. Just my speculation, though.

I think the confusion stems from the lack of voice clips in the SGF trailer and the leaked early build footage. It's not impossible, but I would be shocked if none of the guests had lines.

Pretty sure it varies. MK1, for example, had information on the Kombat Pack 2 characters and story datamined within a week of launch, so I imagine a lot of those interactions were planned for. Same with all the lines for upcoming/ultimately unreleased characters that were found hidden in Multiversus. If the has a long enough tail, though, it might necessitate a new recording session; pretty sure they had to do that with some of the later DBFZ characters.

The existence of the leaked footage implies to me that guests were part of the plan for a long time, so I'm a little surprised there's no interactions, but it could also be a license holder stipulation thing. Famously, the first Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl wasn't allowed to write original dialogue for characters and they could only quote lines from their respective shows, so it might be something dumb like that...

Miku has a voice clip in the SGF trailer for her victory animation, so I think there will be voices.

I think we can expect grunts and recycled voice clips at the very least for the Sega characters.

I expect the DLC characters will all be fully voiced and it's possible that the free SEGA ones will fully implemented into all aspects of the games, but third-party characters such as the Minecraft ones and others that have been leaked may not be given unique character character interactions and rival dialogue.

I just crawled out of my cave and only just found out that Sonic's Weinermobile Adventure has drastically mutated in the time I moled out. Now there's a swathe of characters?
It's a dead horse but I'll definitely watch this game from the sidelines much like DT. I have a Series X sitting around (long story) but I'm not gonna do a Mutahar and dump my wallet on this one; just seeing footage of the adjacent MKW made me get dizzy and I'm not sure if Crossworlds will wind up gathering dust by my table...

Reminder that Crossworlds will be sponsoring the Kids Choice Awards next week. Wouldn't be surprised if we got some new gameplay footage, including a look at one of the post-Minecraft DLC waves.

I haven't played Mario Kart World but I've heard the general consensus is it is a fun but flawed game. Is it possible Sonic Racing might actually be a better game?

It sounds like it might be the more focused, tighter-designed game. My impression is that the open world aspect doesn't add much to the Mario Kart formula and bloats the game a bit, and the same cannot be said for crossworlds. I do think this game could use with a trick system like the sumo racers and rail grinding, though.
