Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Coming Sep. 25, 2025

So I was right. It's exactly like Race of AGES.

 

I love the IDW characters and want them to show up more, I just have 0 faith any interesting choices like that would happen. Same reason I don't expect characters like Chaos or Gemerl to show up in anything at this point.

 

Yeah there’s a big gap between want and expectation. I’ll keep tooting the horn for it until it happens but it’s really frustrating to see them be sat on with regards to the games when the barrier between the comics and games is almost non-existent at this point, what with them being a single continuity.

 

So Riders fans can have their extreme gear, but 2nd Sonic racing game using the Sonic R "R" and still no on-foot racing as an option smh /j

 

I have to assume Sega wants to wait for a big game to introduce them in, but at this point, it'd just be easier to just put them in the games, especially ones like this.

I doubt this will top the original SASATR for me, but I am still quite excited. The fact that there is Secret Rings representation here excites me so much just because of potential remixes of the songs. Secret Rings is one of my all time favorite sonic soundtracks, so that makes me happy. The thought of a No Way Through or Wicked Wild remix makes me feel like I'm in dumb lyrics heaven.

I was really hoping for Sumo Digital to take the helm here once again. I just hope it feels just like the Sumo Digital games, or at least close to it.

I guess the rumours of Sonic Team moving over to UE5 are true, pretty exciting honestly

 

This game looks gorgeous. Haven't seen original stages this stylish or imaginative in a while.

If the next major game after this still looks like an asset flip then I riot.

 

Makes sense after Shadow Generations presumably has copious assets for it.

Wonder if other deep cuts of level choices like that of Secret Rings will pop up.

Huh actual customization, that's cool.

Also that looks like the front half of Blaze's car which would seemingly confirm her as playable. (not that I doubted she would be)

 

Actually, wouldn't surprise me if we got her. Nearly every one here makes up a theoretical team of three (Team Sonic, Team Rose, Team Dark, and Team Chaotix are all here, along with the Babylon Rogues) and there's only two of the Deadly Six so far.

Granted Eggman also has THREE potential teammates right now (Sage, Metal Sonic and Egg Pawn) so maybe he's allied with two of the Six and got his henchmen as an extra cover. Prefer if not, kinda boring having them ally with Eggman AGAIN, even if there's at least two this time. Even having Zeena there for 'Team Zeti' with maybe Orbot and Cubot filling up a 'Team Eggman' and 'Team Badnik' roster would be kinda cool.

Also neat to hear Dodonpa is back, he was a kinda fun wild card. Hopefully he'll get to appear in fully animated cutscenes this time.

True, even if they're relying on recycling assets, they've got way more variation to work with now.

Hmm that's a point. Silver is there, isn't he? He'd likely go with Blaze but who else could they have......unless we finally give a little Aussie her turn......

 

Oh, I'm so excited! This looks so fun so far...!

My personal character wants: Whisper and Lanolin from the IDW comics, Mighty and Ray, Kiryu, Majima and Ichiban from Like a Dragon, Hatsune Miku from Minecraft, NiGHTS, and Ristar.

I don't wanna get my hopes too insanely high, but it would be nice if one or two of these guys made it in...!

 

Egg Pawns were in TSR, they were Eggman's teammates in place of Metal Sonic and Zavok until those two came into the story, and then they also have a function as generic goons for extra story missions. I hope this is a sign only of something like that...

It just really sucks because Zeena was ALMOST in the last Olympics game and then for some reason they just didn't do it. And now to have the other two go-toos of six but then stop right there would really just suck, she's RIGHT THERE and you could make a really cool snowman themed car for her to use and make her hair all cool and shiny.


One last thing, seeing Dino Jungle and what looks to be Pirate Storm and bringing up the Olympics games with snow-related characters makes me sad because it reminded me we don't really have a shot at getting any Sonic Chronicles representation like we once had with Nocturne in the first winter Olympics.

 

Someone pointed out the player name in this screenshot from the beta page has the PlayStation logo next to their name (top left). I think that's about as solid a confirmation of real (i.e. not just Steam to EGS) crossplay as we could ask for.
