Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Coming Sep. 25, 2025

The track switching gimmick seems like an expanded version of Race of AGES gimmick from Transformed.

 

I think it is moreso somethkng ripped straight from Rift Apart, personally. But eh, what do I know.

I'd say the biggest concern with this roster so-far is if that's everyone or if we can be surprised by any further reveals.

On one hand, this is already more than TSR, but can we expect any more? IDK maybe, I mean they didn't even reveal everyone in TSR and that had 16 characters or something.

 

I'm going to make the safe bet that that's the whole roster, which is a good roster.

But I do hope there's some good surprises.

 

@Technically Inept Honestly fast data streaming from SSDs seems to be the single hardware gimmick that devs are able to think of a genuinely impactful and marketable use for this generation, which isn’t surprising given how far technology has come in a very short time. Also means this game will probably have appalling loading times mid-race and pop-in on Switch.

Circling back to the Metal Harbour track, I think it’s actually an entirely new track, if not an expanded version of Carrier Zone, since it has visibly more vertically than that track does. I think it’s just hard to say exactly how much is new right now due to the camera angles and how similar the theming is.

In terms of characters, all I need now are Tangle, Whisper, Surge, Kit, Rough and Tumble…and maybe Mimic. Like sure the guest stars from Riders would be great but I really need to see the IDW cast in a real game and this seems like a very good opportunity for that.

 

Wave appears in game. You can see her for a split second after Eggman jumps the ramp in the monster truck.

Actually, you can glimpse Eggpawn, Zazz, and Wave in their cars for a few frames.


Putting my money on a starting roster of 24-25, with either/both the Chao racer from TSR and Orbot/Cubot being the remaining racers.

Also will wait for a link to the closed beta which is coming just a week ahead

 

I'd expect them to start pulling in stuff like the Wolf avatar from Forces or An Eggpawn With a Hat before we get any Classic characters or the IDW cast

 

All this game needs to do is be better than the last one to find its audience.

 

I don’t know how in control of that SEGA is and whether their relationship with Nintendo is such that they’d be given forewarning of a potential clash. It’d be pitifully hilarious if Mario Kart 9 were to reveal a real-time location changing mechanic a few months from now though…

 

I won't buy it unless I can play as the president's secretary

The vehicles from the Sonic Drift series need to be unlockables in this. Perfect opportunity for it.

We literally have mobile models for them, it pains me seeing them so close yet so far!! We just need a push of some sort to really get the IDW introduction rolling.

My best bet is that there'll be an IDW Character Pack for purchase later on, or a 'Season Pass' akin to whatever Nintendo does for Mario Kart. It's quite mesmerizing that SEGASonic thinks the Zeti are something to sell a title with, when they have an entire cast of sincerely more fascinating characters, not like I want the titles to be profitable or anything. /lh
I suppose it is wise using the models you already have on hand. May the Zeena-enjoyers have their wish granted.

Sonic Racing aside, oof, Shinobi is facing up against MGS3R a day later. That's rough, methinks, but now I'm wondering if the peeps who are into classic 2D platformers crosses enough with the 3D stealth crowd to warrant worry. Guess we'll see in an eventual quarterly reports if it sold poorly / got overshadowed?
