Sonic Origins Collection - General Thread

Discussion in 'General Sonic Discussion' started by HEDGESMFG, May 27, 2021.

  1. Nothing much other than the context of when it comes to handling and preserving classic collections, there's not so much a need to rebuy classic games of fan fav IP and Xbox does look to contuine to patch and fix games long after they've been on retail (Master Chief collection, Rare Replay)

Sonic Origins for what it was, was a nice collection, at least some effort had been put into the game for the 'celebration' in terms of extra's and bonuses, unlike the bare bones Mario 3D All-Stars, which worst still... Nintendo even time-limited its retail and e-shop availability.

So for me, SEGA's handling of its classic Sonic stuff is handled better than Mario's and most other corp's classic IP
Origins was lovely, but really should have included all the Master System/GG and Mega Drive games in one package at the start - That was the biggest fault, but it's a classic IP so must be milked
Fair play, the Plus content wasn't much more, and you had a nice collection for 40 quid, and the bugs are so minuscule that they don't spoil the enjoyment of a nice collection, for me anyway, my biggest issues was iwht the lack of a CRT filter which helps to kill the classic feeling, but I guess that was the point of a remaster to bring it up to modern day display's

Hopefully, we get a 3D collection of Sonic games for his 40th Birthday

God, you really just wilfully miss every point brought up to you, don't you? I never even mentioned 3D All-Stars, my focus was on how Origins was not given enough time in the oven and that's why it came out suboptimal, and an example of why I want SEGA (and the industry writ large) to adopt a development approach more like Nintendo's, where projects are allowed to gestate for years on end rather than crunching the devs and pushing a release out the door before it's really ready. The issues that exist with 3D All-Stars are most certainly not a result of that kind of culture, and the games in that collection function as they ought to. Not that it matters because that's entirely independent from what I'm actually talking about. Just because I like pancakes, it doesn't mean I hate waffles, and your persecution complex over "Sonic bashing" is beyond tiresome at this point - if I hated this series as much as you think I do, why would I be on these forums, advocating for it to benefit from better industry practices?

Part of me wants this, but the other part of me wonders if this is even feasible for anyone who isn't Nintendo or maybe Valve. Is that even an option for anyone who doesn't have money to burn from an ultra-successful console (or Steam)? Would it really create better games... or would they just do the same things?

I really don't know and maybe it just speaks to how utterly wack and unsustainable things are now :^)

  4. I suspect, quite frankly, that Andromeda here is a troll, or is trolling in regards to this thread and the aforementioned CrossWorlds thread. Ignore and move on.
