Sonic Lost World (Wii U, 3DS, PC) Megathread

Chances are good that this preorder bonus will also eventually end up on the eShop as its one and only piece of DLC.

And for fuck's sake, is there no shame in Sonic Team anymore to even remotely try to not be like Mario? The overworld map and its functionality looks almost exactly the same as NSMBU.

 

So the NiGHTS content pretty much bridges the Sonic and NiGHTS universes into one, making Christmas NiGHTS canon to the Sonic games.

I'll admit, if Sonic said "This place looks familiar, or maybe I just dreamt it." I'd fangasm.

Now I'm really not buying into that whole "not at all connected to Colors" malarkey.


Also, if this paved the way to a fullblown Sonic/NiGHTS crossover, that'd be pretty awesome.

 

This game is looking more and more like a sequel to Sonic Colors which I'm okay with except the fact the fucking wisps are controlled with the GamePad. From what I can tell, the only good use of the GamePad in this game is being able to play it without a TV and the multiplayer. Any other use with the Wii U GamePad's functionality seems like an unnecessary mandate. I hope this game (along with a bunch of other Wii U exclusives) sell like shit for being Wii U exclusive. Pisses me off that the Wii U game that interests me the most is a third party game where all of the mandated Wii U GamePad functionality is completely unnecessary and likely to hold the game's quality back. The NiGHTS stuff looks cool.

 

It looks nothing like the world map from NSMBU... if anything it's more like the one from Sonic Colours (as a lot of things are, in this) but with hexagons that make it look nicer.
Most things you've said in this thread have been negative (for weeks!) and now I think you're just reaching for something new to complain about. Chill out, man!


That aside, does anyone know if the Deadly Six Edition a retailer exclusive? Should I just keep my regular Amazon preorder of Sonic Lost World or do you think Amazon will list it separately?

No, you can't -- not outside of multiplayer. That said, I don't see the issue with the gamepad and I'm sure this'll be grand.

 

My bad then, I saw the multiplayer stuff and tought you could play without the gamepad. But I still think in the end it will have multiple control options since almost every Wii U game (Nintendo ones too) offer the Pro controller option (like Pikmin, The Wonderful 101, NSMBU, this one was actually patched in with the NSLU update).

 

Don't you still have to look away from the screen which totally disrupts the gameplay?

 

If there's 2 player racing, one of them's not going to be playing with the Gamepad. Dunno about you guys, but that leads me to believe I won't have to use the touch screen if I don't want to.

 

Or, the second player will have control over the wisp powers.

 

I can back you up over this. I was at Boom as well, and you can indeed use the left analog stick to aim Laser left and right (it does show up on the main screen, of course) and you can indeed press the A button to shoot. The only thing you need the Gamepad for is for activating the Color Power.

I probably should've tested all the buttons to see if I could activate the Color Power without the touchscreen, but it slipped my mind...

 

I want that NiGHTS content. :\

 

Why would you need to use the touch screen to activate it? o_O I don't understand why they don't just map the activation button to a bumper. The lack of Pro Controller support for single player is making less and less sense to me.
