    Iizuka himself to me seems like a pretty swell contributor, the problem I personally see is that the two Sonic Teams got merged - before that, I personally enjoyed Sonic Team USA games far more than Sonic Team Japan games.

    Iizuka's usually pretty good when he's not bringing back dead characters or designing roller-coaster levels, and I'll usually put up with one or two of the latter in any Sonic game. The best thing about Unleashed is that it actually has levels that are open and expansive!

    I don't know what game you've been playing. Sonic Unleashed's levels aren't the least bit open, at times it's an even worse roller coaster than SA2.

    You know if they would just do what they should've done 10 years ago we wouldn't be in this rut.

    Is it so hard, to go back to the 2D games, and reinvent an engine and a game which more accurately follows that of the old? Is it SEGA? I mean, you've done this whole "recreating sonic thing" what 3 times now and haven't even considered it.

    That's because Sega treats Sonic the same way as a licensed movie game - They come up with new game play based off his characterization and what he does in movies and TV shows.

    From what I gathered back in the Unleashed prerelease interviews, they're deciding they are no longer going to try to bring the series "back to its roots," because they "tried it" with '06 and failed. So instead, they're going to appeal to the reviewers by forcing LOLspeed down our throats in the new "PUSH X TO RICH" gameplay style.

    Damnit ST, you know '06 was bad because it was shit, not because it used the "gameplay at its roots," which it DIDN'T.

    I suppose it's possible we could see a real reboot in the series or something like that, I mean, it's been 10 years now since Sonic got revamped into his current form, and if you count the timeline he's actually been our super hip green eyed surfer-accented cool dude longer than he was his original incarnation.

    Working on my art!
    I just thought about that the other day, and to be honest it makes me sad.

    Funny, I personally see it that the games from Sonic 1 over the Adventures till Unleashed take all place in the same timeline. ... I am one of those "the transition came with Pocket Adventure" believers. <.<;

    Unleashed basically is a reboot. They said before it came out that it didn't have anything to do with any previous Sonic games. To me, that says reboot.

    I personally think the next game will be something along the lines of a Sonic 4 or something. I think SEGA understands by now the old way worked a lot better, and I see Classic Sonic paraded around and advertised by SEGA quite a bit lately. Maybe I'm reading too much into, I don't know.

    Only a matter of time until we get a Sonic game that plays like the Genesis games using the Hedgehog Engine for visuals, I don't care, I would totally be up for it if they figure out what made Sonic games so good back then. We all know what it is by now (COUGH Momentum COUGH), but does SEGA/Sonic Team? I can't help but think if they did attempt a Sonic 4 we would get something along the lines of Sonic Advance.

    So as usual, it's up to us to keep Sonic's dignity alive.

    You know, since ST won't.

    Or can't.

    Cause Sammy is a conglomeration of assholes.

    Funny, I don't. The lack of variety certainly didn't do it for me. But that's just my opinion, personally.
