I'm working on working up the willpower to work on learning how to make my own Sonic fangames. Not quite there yet.
I can imagine that, myself. (Which you may already know depending on whether or not you stuck out the entire hour-long BSC ramble video. And if you did, I salute you, because listening to it bored the shit outta me.)

As a side-note, I also found World of Darkness to be a great level and this is the first I've heard of any "most people hate it" sentiment. I do submit that it's more fun in subsequent runs, however, as your first run is most likely relatively tedious.

I'm hoping for a lot of Sonic 2 and 3&K Zones.

The ones I want to see the most are a handful from Sonic 2, Hydrocity Zone from S3, and Sky Sanctuary from S&K.

It would be funny if anything from 2006 made it into this game.

Might be a bit out of the ordinary, but I'd like to see a good* (read: controllable) version of Levitated Ruins.

Running on the back of flying manta rays that have ruins on their back all the while avoiding a giant flying dragon? That's just badass. Not to mention the music is one of the best tracks in the game. I'd love to play this stage without the terrible* rail-switching, annoying on-rails running, and overly strong winds. As far as pure concept goes, I personally find this stage to be one of the most imaginative in recent Sonic history.

I may have listened to the whole thing. :ohdear:

If someone on the development team made the decision to include an '06 stage in order to deliberately self-parody that debacle, I'd so totally brofist that person. Or at least send them a brofist.jpg, since they likely live on the other side of the goddamn planet.

I'm expecting something like a 60-40% split between Genesis stages and everything else, respectively. Simply put, there are just fewer memorable levels in the Dreamcast/Modern eras than there are in the Genesis era.

I hope it's more like a 80-20% split, as there's so many classic levels I know the developers are wishing they could make, but probably don't have the time frame to make them all. (DLC??). I don't really have any modern levels that give me any sense of nostalgia or excitement, though having a Station Square level being destroyed by Perfect Chaos would be pretty sweet. Yet, something like that may not be included due to the incident in Japan.

I don't believe that the storybook series is going to be touched on since they aren't considered part of the main series canon. They might just because it is a part of the history but since there is so much emphasis on the 3 major eras and story related games, I don't know if Secret Rings or Black Knight will make the cut. However I must say it will be interesting if we get to see an unleashed version of Silver and Blaze from 06 if nothing else about that travesty of a game.

I will be flat out amazed if we get some Sonic Spinball love in this game.

Toxic Caves or Lava Powerhouse in 3D would be nuts.

  8. That would be nuts. There's so much to cover, but I have a feeling they're going to strictly stick with Sonic 1-3 and Knuckles and then go right into the Dreamcast era :/. But a person can hope...

There are also the 8-bit games, I seriously hope they can get some love. Jungle Zone, Bridge Zone... or Sunset Park Zone 3, I can even imagine Modern Sonic running on that train in 3D. Just like I'd like to see some minor characters such as Nack in this. I hope they pull a Turtles Forever and make at least cameos of other "dimensions" such as AoStH or the comic itself. Maybe some Mean Bean Machine as well, there are so many possibilities, Sega has many ways to do it right. Or screw it up royally.

I'd not only love it if they pulled cameos from the Comics (fleetway and Archie) or AOSTH, but If someone were to rip the cameos (provided they were models like in the All Stars racing game) I'd rig them up for Gmod too.

Somehow I'm just not seeing it. Not to say that some of those levels remade wouldn't kick all sorts of ass, but I'm just not seeing it.

In fact even CD's inclusion is highly debatable IMO. I'm guessing we'll get Sonic 1, 2, 3K, Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Unleashed, and Colors. Then throw Heroes, 06, and CD into the maybe pile

I somehow think they're going to include Stardust Speedway's race against Metal Sonic, since that's one of the most notable moments in the classic Sonic games, and another one which has the potential to look good once brought to 3D, just like the aforementioned train from Sunset Park Zone. Those fast-paced zones are a natural environment for Modern Sonic.

I'd hope there'd be something from Sonic CD. Do we really think they'd include anything from Unleashed?

Nah, I'd think it'd be too soon for them to revisit that game. Ditto '06 and Black Knight...

Absolutely. After all, Modern Sonic's as we know him now was created starting with that game. And if the game didn't cover Unleashed or Colors in the modern era, then what exactly would it cover? Only games left would be 06 and Secret Rings, and I highly doubt they want to look back at either of those.

There could also be a chance that they'd recreate some of the Advance and Rush levels though. Rush is pretty much modern, only entirely in 2D

If CD makes it in though I'm betting there is almost a 100% chance that it's Stardust speedway. Besides Quartz Quadrant and Wacky Workbench, most of those levels are just Sonic 1 levels on steroids, and those two aren't nearly as iconic. Seeing the Metal Sonic race in 3D though would be all kinds of awesome though.

  16. I wonder if there will be a two-player mode in this game and, if so, they'll remake a level from Sonic R? I'd definitely like to see an HD version of Radical City or Regal Ruin.

I'm going to go with what Ritz said and hope for Quartz Quadrant, personally. The Metal Sonic race is cool and all, and I love that level, but Quartz Quadrant has the most potential out of all the zones for decent platforming rather than the usual SPEED SPEED SPEED that would carry on to both the Classic and Modern parts of the zone with Speedway. Although I would also support the return of Wacky Workbench if only so another generation of gamers can get ridiculously frustrated over those damn bouncy floors.

Oh believe me I'd love to see Quartz Quadrant again, I loved that level. I'm just being realistic. I mean if it weren't for that level I highly doubt we'd still be seeing the same incarnation of Metal Sonic that was created in that game. Plus I bet there will be plenty of levels in this game that will have a good amount of platforming. I mean if they decide to include Sky Sanctuary that's a very heavy platforming level

For whatever water level is in the game, I wish they'd give Modern Sonic the ability to actually be in water with the 3D perspective. Aquarium Park miffed me like that. Probably not going to happen.

Also, after watching the video for the twelfth time, I found out the camera is still center-cut. It's 2011 SEGA, I think people with 4:3 TVs can get over the black bars, and I want my damn wider screen to mean something. :[

If there was a Bridge Zone remake, I'd probably buy this at launch. Just because I love that damn song.

+ - Or at least I'd download the soundtrack..

Fucking this. What's so hard about letting 3D Sonic go underwater? You could say they do it for brevity's sake and that it breaks the flow of things. But all I know is that I'd much rather walk slowly underwater for ten seconds to find a spring so I could go back up to the surface than "LOLDEAD BYE S RANK SUCKS TO BE YOU."

Or it could take a lot to render? I think that's a shitty excuse. You don't have to render the entire fucking ocean, just enough space to throw some power ups, rings, air bubbles, and springs. Few spikes to keep you on your toes and maybe a badnik or two. I don't think that would require much on their end to make happen, so what gives?

Though, on the other hand, if they're doing away with the scoring system and making ranking go strictly by time only...then I guess it wouldn't effect my rank if I died and started back at a checkpoint. That's assuming they don't use a scoring system, though.

Either way, scoring a S rank or not, it's still annoying as fuck to have insta kill water when we know damn well he can go under water. :colbert:

It would also help Modern's gameplay not feel like a reflex test and more like a video game that you play, and not just watch.
